THE PERCH AT PISGAH · 5BR LOG CABIN · BURNSVILLE, NC · SLEEPS 12

5 Bedrooms | 3.5 Baths | Sleeps 12 | 4 Decks | Fire Pit | Dog Wash Station | EV Charger

Sitting at 3,200 feet in Pisgah National Forest outside Burnsville, NC, The Perch at Pisgah is a five-bedroom, 3.5-bath log cabin retreat built for groups who want space, beauty, and the kind of altitude-cooled air that makes summer feel like a different season entirely. The Black Mountain range — anchored by Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Rockies — fills the horizon from nearly every room in the house, and four decks give you four different ways to drink it all in. At 3,200 ft, temperatures run 10–15°F cooler than the valley in summer. Fall color runs late September through October — earlier and more vivid than lower elevations. The Blue Ridge Parkway is minutes away.

FALL AT THE PERCH

At 3,200 ft in the Black Mountain range, fall color begins as early as late September and runs through October — a full month of spectacular mountain foliage, arriving earlier and more vividly than lower elevations and valley towns. The Black Mountain range turns color from all four deck levels simultaneously — a vantage point that changes throughout the day as light moves across the ridge. The covered deck keeps the group outside even on rainy fall days. The propane fire pit extends evenings outdoors as temperatures cool. The stone fireplace handles the transition indoors. Crisp fall nights at 3,200 ft offer exceptional stargazing through the telescope as the leaves begin to thin. Peak color typically mid-to-late October — but spectacular from late September onward. Book late September for the earliest color and lighter crowds; book mid-October for peak saturation across the Black Mountain range.

SLEEPING — 5 Bedrooms · 3.5 Baths · Sleeps 12

The cabin sleeps up to 12 across five distinct spaces. The master suite features a cathedral pine beam ceiling, corner soaking tub, dual vanity, dedicated workspace, and a door that opens directly onto a private deck with mountain views. Two additional king bedrooms with private en-suite baths, reading chairs, and desks offer comfortable privacy for couples or adults who want their own space. A fourth bedroom has two twin beds — ideal for kids or additional guests. The fairy-light loft adds a magical bonus sleeping and hangout space: navy shiplap walls, a double bed with trundle, game table, and LoveSac seating.

LIVING & DINING

The great room is the heart of the cabin — soaring cathedral pine beam ceilings, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, a large sectional, and picture windows that frame the Black Mountain range like a living painting that changes color all day. A telescope is provided for daytime ridge-watching and nightly stargazing. The farmhouse trestle table seats all twelve with sliding glass doors to the deck and a full kitchen bar with four leather stools for casual meals. The knotty pine kitchen has granite countertops, new stainless appliances, and a dedicated coffee station with a Cuisinart dual brewer, burr grinder, and electric kettle. Downstairs: a second large common space with its own coffee bar, game table, and sectional — room for the group to spread out, watch the big game, or take in the mountain views from a different angle.

FOUR DECKS — Each with Its Own Character

The main deck is built for gathering — a propane fire pit with lounge seating, a six-seat dining table, a Weber grill, and nothing between you and the Black Mountain range. The covered pergola deck with string lights keeps the group outside in any weather — rain doesn't end the day here. The primary bedroom deck has a two-person hanging egg chair — the most intimate fall foliage perch at the property. A fourth deck has a rope hammock and quiet corners for anyone who needs a slower pace.
