Old, unclean, unpleasant

Online check in was convenient. I did have to argue about my silver rewards which was a parking credit… they had no idea at the desk… so I showed them the booking on my phone and they ensured my parking was complimentary… however, do to pressure washing I was unable to use the car park for 2 of the 3 nights I was there. The first room had no kettle, cups, spoons etc… flickering lights in the kitchenette… They were happy to move me but then told me I could only move there for 1 night and then would have to move again… eventually we found a room… however the bathroom had mould (pictured) and the kettle wouldn’t turn off… it felt unsafe to use. I made these things known but nothing happened… I just gave up in the end. The place is literally falling apart, it is in bad need of updating… there certainly wasn’t value for money, I have experienced way better at much cheaper locations… I won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone who values cleanliness and the amenities you pay for actually working properly. Staff were nice, but seriously up against a property that does not meet the brief for what it says it is… have really low expectations if you decide to stay there.

Great location and the staff were excellent. Spacious room and very comfortable bed. Shower over the (slippery) bath difficult for older travellers but the shower itself was excellent. Maybe a bit more storage would be good for longer stays. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

Unfortunately this accomodation really was the only dissspointing part of our holiday. Cairns is a amazing place we absolutely loved our time in Cairns but the accomodation was definitely not what we hoped for. From the condition of the room with what looked like vomit all down the wall in bathroom mould all through the shower grout 1 face cloth for 2 people and no towels at all after room servicing and some of there cleaning cloths left in room they really need to look at training their staff. The decor and carpets are all very tired. Bed was so soft and 2 pillows that were as flat as pancakes. Sadly this is not a gd reflection on Rydges as a hotel brand I definitely would not stay here again.

We watch sun rise and set from our ocean view room The room was comfortable but bathroom need attention regarding small amounts of mould We were told that the hotels are really struggling in cairns This showed in having ask for tea bags toilet and towels and other guests mentioned the same issue The staff went out way to help and nothing was a problem If you arrive early and won’t your rooom there was a $20 a hour charge The muddy cafe is a 5 minute walk on the esplanade is well worth visit

This was a wonderful place to stay surrounded by parks and splash parks for the children. The pools at the hotel were not heated so the splash parks were a good choice. Staff was so friendly and helpful, really enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyed our stay at the Rydes Esplanade. Nice room that was a good size with with good amenities. Would have liked access to Foxtel or similar shows. TV was not a smart TV so that is something that could be improved. Otherwise Wife and I were very happy with our choice.

The Staff are great and the location is good. Nightly happy hour seemed very popular. The hotel is looking quite tired. The decking around the pool has been neglected. Certainly in need of an upgrade.

Location is great, easy walk distance to the esplanade, night market..etc. We stayed in a double/queen suite. The room is a bit dated. It would be great if parking is free for the guests, we had to pay extra for the period of 8 days staying.
