Environnement trĂšs calme et maison confortable dans un charmant village proche de Carcassonne et des nombreux points d'interĂȘt de lâAude. Accueil parfait : merci !
We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at Les Lavandes in Cailhau - a wonderful rural, peaceful location in which all the family were able to unwind, relax and do things together.
The gite was everything we could have hoped fr in terms of size, facilities and setting and June was extremely helpful on our arrival and departure.
Cailhau was a perfect base from which to explore Carcassonne, Languedoc and the Pyrenees. We visited Andorra and Spain, spent time in the beautiful local towns and villages (Limoux, Cailhau) had beach days at Guissan near Narbonne - a relatively short drive away.
The week passed too quickly but we will definitely return to this idyllic corner of France!
Fantastic location/view, quiet, overlooking vineyards, beautiful countryside and the Pyrenees
This property has a fantastic view of the French countryside and the Pyrenees. The size of the property is ideal for a family of four, with nice fittings throughout. The owners are absolutely wonderful people who respect your privacy. If you need a break from it all, this is the very place for you. Book it!!
The house is immaculate, so much so we thought we were the first guests to stay there! The view to the Mountains is really stunning and the scenery is constantly changing. The village was very quiet with only one restaurant/bar but we ate there twice and had a very good meal on each occasion. Carcassonne was about a fifteen minute drive through the countryside and there is some beautiful scenery to be enjoyed. The house was well equipped, the bed comfortable and the shower excellent. There was Sky TV but it only had a limited selection of all the worst of the worst repeats but it does have Sky News. There is a DVD and a CD player provided but there are no Films or music CD;s which proved frustrating when we wanted to stay in and relax there was nothing to watch or listen to. Matthew and June were perfect hosts however and we will look to go back again another time.
The house had everything you may need whilst away. It was very clean and well kept. The highlight has to be the views which changes all the time depending on the weather. There is a lovely decking area which you can sit and just take it all either during the day or at night with the stunning night time sky.
There is a quaint village just up the road which has a bar/food and sells fresh bread in the mornings. There is no food shop but I believe mobile sellers come to the village depending on what day it is.
There are plenty of nice villages to see and activities to do within the local area.
I loved it and would definitely stay here again.
Lovely location, superb views and extremely clean and well maintained property.
We had a week at this property and unfortunately the weather was not at its best. The superb views over to the Pyrenees were not always available!!It would have been nice to sit outside but not an option due to the weather. The property was very well maintained and equiped, very clean and tidy but a few extra bits and pieces would have made it more homely eg curtains, more pictures on walls and a rug or two.
The area is very interesting with plenty picturesque villages about,eg Mirepoix and Limoux and very close to Carcassonne.Only one restaurant within walking distance but plenty of options in most of the surrounding villages. The Canal du Midi is on your doorstep but there does not seem to be the attractions, restaurants around it to make it more interesting. If only the weather had been better!!
The owners ,who lived adjacent to property, were most polite and helpful and in no way intrusive.
The property is so handy for airport at Carcassonne. No hassle.
