Booked for one night for a work night out. The building is lovely and ideally located near the city centre, though there are major construction works happening outside. The room was adequate, with a nice powerful shower, but there were signs of mould and it could use some updating. The staff, especially the night porter, were very helpful and made our stay more pleasant.

Great area and a nice looking historic building. Front desk was helpful and kind. It was clean and had some great amenities. Only negative is there is not a fridge in the room which wasn’t a big deal for us but it is something to be aware of!

We arrived for an overnight stay at the Crown and mitre on April 30/2025 . The first room we had ( 303 ) wasn’t at all to our liking or what we had expected it was old, tired and in need of some TLC . Thankfully to the Hotel Manager Ellie we moved to a room on the second floor . We were really delighted with our new room on it was evident that this room had been refurbished it also had the most beautiful and comfortable bed we had a great sleep . The Hotel has a fantastic indoor swimming pool and Sauna . We would definitely return the Crown and Mitre ( room on second floor ) as the location is perfect for all the local shops and amenities . Thank you once again to Ellie

The location is excellent and the staff superb. My room was a bit time worn, but quiet and clean for a great night's sleep. Just a few steps to great cafés and restaurants. Definitely visit Bordo Lounge!

Great weekend stay

Crown and mitre does not disappoint great location even though there is building work going on outside the hotel it doesn’t affect yr break and we will look forward to our next visit when it will be completed, the staff are first class we have got to know them well they can’t do enough for you x

Impressive architectural features. Stained glass windows and marble walls and floors in the public areas. The guest rooms need some refurbishment and the bathrooms need modernising, but the hotel ambience and excellent service provided by the staff made our stay very enjoyable.

Rooms were not very big, and the place was a bit dated. But the staff were nice and it was clean. Conveniently located to the Town Square, which was being renovated while we were there. Would like to come back and see it when it's finished!

Typical three star hotel.

The car park took some finding and was locked after 5pm. Rooms are reasonably comfortable and kept clean but ready for some updating. Staff are OK but not very smiley or friendly. Good location in the city centre. The food is ok. Typical 3 star hotel. Some nice architectural features inside.
