Oceanfront 2 bedroom condo- Pet Friendly- Mermaids Retreat

Oceanfront, first floor condo with private walkway to the beach. Our cozy condo offers 2 bedrooms/ 2 baths and has everything you will need for a perfect vacation getaway.
* 2 parking spaces are located in the gravel parking area.
*Pets are allowed with a pet fee- $125 non-refundable pet fee for one dog and a $200 non-refundable pet fee for two dogs.
(Must message me before booking to confirm it is okay you bring your pet)
*Linens are NOW PROVIDED

Just steps to the beach through your own private walkway. The Mermaids Retreat is located approximately 15-20 walking distance to the pier and only about 5-10 minutes from the boardwalk. The condo features two bedrooms with one queen sized bed in the master bedroom and 2 twin sized beds in the second bedroom. Fully equipped kitchen and washer & dryer available. Private parking.

Other things to note:
Pet Policy: ‱ Two pet maximum ($125 non-refundable pet fee for one dog, $200 non-refundable pet fee for two dogs) ‱ Under 50lbs ‱ Crate trained/crated when you are not with them ‱ House trained ‱ Please no pets on the furniture
*** If pets are allowed on furniture and pet hair is found all over furniture, you will not receive your security deposit back (security deposit is refundable, the pet fee is not). We booked this trip for our 33rd anniv. We love CB and were excited for our mini vaca. Positives: Great location. Close to our fav places. Could walk directly to the beach. Parking was perfect. Thankfully there were cleaning supplies to begin sanitizing before we settled in b/c it desperately needed it!Negatives: Marijuana smell upon arrival. We were shocked when we realized how dirty it was. It looked as though it had not been thoroughly cleaned in a year. Both toilets had urine and other matter under the lid. Both showers were dirty and had hair in them. I went to the master bedroom and pulled the covers down to find hair on the pillowcases and sheets. At that point, I wanted to leave immediately or at least cry. However, my husband found clean bedding in the closet and changed everything. We cleaned the toilets and sprayed the showers.The refrigerator hadn't been wiped out. Outside door of the refrigerator was smeared and had a layer of "something" on it. Microwave was dirty on the outside. I had to clean the kitchen sink as well. Even the cabinets were gross. And that didn't happen overnight. Vents in the floor were also disgusting. Living room was dusty and crumbs on chair. Sliding glass door of deck was filthy. Deck hadn't been cleaned and the furniture was rusted. I contacted owner by text ASAP. She said she could come by in an hour and clean. She apologized. I told her we would do it. I never heard from her again. I took photos of it all. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Unfortunately I cannot give a 5 star rating. The condo itself was fine, location was good however the beach was not accessible from the condo. We were not aware of the project underway on the beach and the fact that there was an enormous pipe blocking beach access. I feel that this is something that the owner should have told us before booking. We had to walk a mile in either direction to gain access to the water. Not acceptable! I realize that the owner is in the rental business to make money but they should have given us the option to decline based on the condition of the beach.We will not return or recommend Carolina Beach to anyone.

The condo had everything we needed for our stay. Plenty of blankets, pillows and towels. The kitchen was fully functional. Only problem was the cable tv box in the master bedroom did not work. Other than that everything was perfect.

The condo was priced as a premium location but when we arrived we didn't find anything premium about it. Floors were dirty, and the washer/dryer had rust and mold on them. The fixtures in the bathroom were delapidated and had rust. The ac vents were rusty - the door access code didn't work so we had to use the key lock box. Front door was discolored from long standing dirt. The sliding glass door lock was broke but functional and the most of the dining room/kitchen furniture was badly worn. I had to email the host on my way to the condo (around 4pm) to get the welcome letter wish she responded with the standard form no apology or oops .. Just a copy and paste. On the bright side it was beach front and the parking was ok...

Home Away From Home

We had a wonderful vacation with our family and two Yorkies! The Mermaid’s Retreat had everything we needed to feel right at home. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to meal prep, cook and clean. Check in/check out was a breeze. Walking distance to the boardwalk.

Very nice condo on the water.

The condo was exactly as advertised. Nice balcony off of the living room and view of water. Very convenient location. We could walk to restaurants. My only concern was the lack of soap in either of the bathrooms.
