We stayed at this beautiful villa with a family of 10 adults.
We had the most wonderful experience. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and the proximity to rail, supermarkets, wineries and out of the ordinary gems (local towns) were a bonus!
Thank you Pia and Teresa for a most memorable holiday!
We were a group of 4 adults & 2 children aged 5 & 3. The villa was perfect for us, we all had a room each with bathroom facilities. The house was clean with a well stocked kitchen and plenty of towels & other consumables. The pool area had beds, umbrellas & a toilet so we did not need to return to the house. The pool has a jacuzzi & a shallower area for the children. Unfortunately some of our luggage did not arrive at the airport and the hosts were extremely helpful in trying to help us sort things out. The views of Orvieto were stunning, we were close to the town but at the same time it was very quiet and peaceful. It is definitely somewhere that we would consider returning to. A fantastic place. Thank you.
Just to be aware that there are additional charges which are payable before the holiday for air-con, final cleaning & pool cleaning, but it still remains reasonable value for the size of the property.
I donât know that I can actually put into words how absolutely beautiful this place is. Coming into the area up the hill from Orvieto you see the majestic property rising above the rows of vineyards. Upon entry into the gates you are greeted with rows of evergreen and wildflowers. The old farmhouse with its open and airy feel is something you could only imagine in the movies. Each room beautifully decorated with their own baths. While there are air conditioners throughout itâs really a refreshing treat to be able to open the screened windows and doors and let the fresh breezes flow through the house. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you could need. The pool and lovely pool house with a nice bathroom is wonderful on hot summer days or if you like swim at night as it is a lit pool. The owner and staff were incredible the entire 12 days we were there and handled any minor issues quickly. They set us up with the most amazing chefs who prepared an unbelievable 8 courses and taught us the recipes along the way. The pictures simply do not do this place justice. It is truly a one of a kind lifetime experience that I honestly cannot wait to get back to as soon as possible.
There is no doubt that this villa is lovely & perfect for a three generational family such as ours. There is plenty of space, the pool is large & the views are to die for. However I would advise checking on payments for extras, & on closer inspection not everything was perfect. In our balcony room the TV did not work, nor did the fridge, we were unable to use the safe as it was locked shut. The mosquito net needed replacing. The hairdryer did not work. My daughters air con was not brilliant, her TV did not work either. The two fridges in the kitchen were quite worn. It was not possible to use the cooker/microwave/washing machine in any combination because the power supply could not take it. We had three power cuts & ate supper one evening by the light from our phones. The jacuzzi did not work. The stands for the umbrellas were not sufficient to withstand any breeze so it was not possible to have shade at the poolside. The pool was cleaned twice a week but considering we had to pay a cost per day it should have been cleaned more often. Taking into account the total cost of the villa we felt rather overcharged !
We enjoyed our stay in Castel Viscardo very much. The house is situated in nice surroundings with a perfect view over Umbrian hills and the city of Orvieto on its hill. The house offers plenty of amenities. The pool is definitely a highlight. The hosts took perfectly care about us and helped quickly (i. e. with the broken dish washer). The house is calm an quiet, for shopping etc. a car is definitely needed. To sum it up, we can really recommend this house for a comfortable, calm stay.
