Anglesey holiday let - self catering in Cemaes Bay

The Moorings is a ground floor apartment on the edge of the water overlooking Cemaes Bay. Originally the ground floor was part of a house built for a “Sea Captain”. The property has kept many of the original late Edwardian features.

The large shared garden forms part of the sea wall, allowing direct access to the beach. The costal path passes directly outside the garden gates providing great coastal walks in either direction.

Highly rated on TripAdvisor, it has breath taking views from its position on the edge of the idyllic village of Cemaes. Less than 5 minutes walk to the shops, pubs and cafes.

The Moorings provides an ideal base for exploring the area. The large garden provides plenty of space for kayaks, plus storage for bicycles, fishing and beach equipment. For the adventurous there is a small slipway steps away from the gate which provides excellent launching for small sailing dinghy's and kayaks.

A fantastic location for a family holiday, walking, kayaking, sailing, cycling, birdwatching or fishing. A real versatile location!

The setting of The Moorings is really quite special, offering breath-taking sea views of Cemaes Bay across to National Trust land.

Whatever time of the year, this beautiful property offers exceptional views of the harbour and Cemaes Bay from the sunroom, lounge and two of the bedrooms.

Cemaes is a small fishing village with colourful houses, shops (Post Office, pharmacy, village stores) pubs, cafes and a Doctors surgery. It is located on the north coast of Anglesey and is a good starting point for coastal walks and bird watching. There is a nature reserve a few miles away at Cemlyn which is renowned for its bird watching and Church Bay further along the coast boasts a lovely beach with bistros serving locally caught lobster and crab.

At the eastern end of the village is a broad, flat, sandy beach which offers a great venue for sunbathing, swimming and water sports.

This apartment can sleep up to 9, book in combination with The View @ The Moorings to accommodate a group of up to 14.



Property description

Kitchen
The kitchen is well equipped with a cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. Most appliances are recently updated although the kitchen itself is dated, but very functional

Wrap Around Sun Room
A long wooden table seating 8 (additional chairs available) in the spacious dining area, where panoramic windows provide stunning views of the sea and bay. There is also a comfortable seating area with a wrap around large sofa, wingback arm chair and footstool – great for watching the tide come and go! A telescope and a set of binoculars are provided. The perfect setting for bird watching and even a seal off the old pier. A chest contains cosy blankets and there is a further bench, habitat folding chairs and sun loungers that can be used on the decking.

Lounge
The light and airy well-proportioned lounge has the original ornate wooden fire surround with an integrated log burner, perfect to provide a welcoming glow and warmth on a winter evening. The white beamed ceiling and glass panelled doors give a feeling of lightness and airiness enhanced by the spectacular views out to sea. There is a 3-seater sofa, three armchairs, a 43 inch TV with Freeview and DVD player and a Bluetooth speaker. Books, games and DVDs are to be found on the shelves of the dresser.

Bedroom 1: En suite
King-sized bed with an “Eve” mattress and sea views across the bay. The white beamed ceiling brings plenty of character to this double bedroom which also contains matching bedside cabinets and a triple wardrobe with shelves for plenty of storage. The small en suite contains a shower, heated towel rail and toilet.

Bedroom 2
This bedroom contains twin single beds and a triple bunk (double bed on the lower bunk). There is also a wardrobe with draws, 2 further draws under the beautiful window seat with views onto the beach.

Bedroom 3
This double bedroom contains bedside cabinets and a chest of drawers in the wardrobe.

Bathroom
A white-tiled bathroom contains a full-size bath with over shower, toilet, sink and a heated towel rail.

Shower Room
Next door to the bathroom is a spacious shower room with a walk-in shower, toilet, sink, electric fan heater and a heated towel rail.

Entertainment
43 inch TV, Freesat, DVD player with selection of DVD's, Bluetooth speaker and a selection of games, jigsaws and books in the lounge. A pair of binoculars and a telescope are provided – you might just spot a seal and bird-watching becomes a habit!

Outside

A private decking area with table, benches and parasol for The Moorings can be accessed through the sunroom. A “Char-Broil” barbecue for use on the decking is stored in the sunroom.

The property has the benefit of a very large garden overlooking the bay which is shared with the upstairs apartment.

Beach equipment including deck chairs, crabbing lines, buckets and spades are all available in the garden storage area. There is a covered hanging area for wetsuits and a rotary washing line that can be placed in the garden.

There is off road parking for two vehicles, with additional free parking spaces only meters away next to the seawall.

Please note: Access to the property is via steps, all with handrails: either 4 steps up from the path and lower garden gate or 11 wide staggered steps down from the car park. Once inside the apartment is on one level other than a step down into the sunroom.

Cemaes Bay Harbour and beach – Cemaes is a gorgeous, unspoilt coastal village on the North coast of Anglesey, the most northerly village in Wales with a lovely little harbour and a wide sandy beach.

Llyn Alaw – Enjoy a stroll along this large Anglesey reservoir. It covers 770 acres and has a number of walking trails along the water. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a destination for over-wintering birds. There are also wildflowers, butterflies and bird hides where you can look out for the variety of birds that visit the lake.

Melin Llynnon Mill – Melin Llynnon, or Llynnon Mill, is a gristmill located on the outskirts of the village of Llanddeusant on the island of Anglesey. It is the only surviving working windmill in Wales. Lovely homemade food in the cafe.

Fabulous stay in Cemaes

Fabulous three nights stay in the best location in Cemaes, very comfortable,spacious house with garden! and patio! right on the bay!! Very well equipped kitchen and dining, relaxing lounge and wrap around sun lounges with fantastic views. Nigel, the owner was easily contactable and had lots of advice and helpful tips. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

This was our second stay at The Moorings, and again we weren't disappointed. The new extended decking area is an excellent space to relax and take in the fantastic view. Overall we would highly recommend The Moorings as a fantastic property to holiday in, and we will be staying again in the future.

Wonderful to look out to sea .The houseneeds some work done as does the garden.The step from the lounge to conservatory is dangerous as it is made of paving stones.The shed for wet suits needs much work as does the outside of it.bedrooms very comfortable.To many steps.

Perfect family base for seaside holiday

What a view, what a location! The whole bay spread out in front of you, so you can keep an eye on kids from the garden or sun room as they explore beaches, rock pools, the huge garden. Just minutes walk from harbour, pub, shop and chippy and a hop over the wall ladder to the beach. Sunshine throughout the day , just choose where you want to soak it up! Lovely variety of sitting and dining areas. Beds good, pillows hard as bricks, 2 showers, and bath, so plenty of space. Kitchen well equipped if tricky to navigate for more than one cook. V useful outdoor shed for wetsuits etc.

Superb property, wonderful view

We had a wonderful four day stay at The Moorings. The property was very clean and probably the best-equipped house we've ever stayed in. The views over the bay are second to none and we loved watching the changing tides. There are superb walks right from the cottage, one of which was the best walk we've ever done. The village has a couple of handy local shops and good pubs and restaurants. I also want to thank the owners who very kindly let us change our dates at the last minute due to a serous family issue. We'll be back!

A great place to relax

Have spent a lovely holiday at The Moorings (ground floor apartment). The location is superb – such a lovely sea view from many of the rooms, especially the dining room and the garden, which is huge. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. Good to have 3 bathrooms. Nice comfy beds. Outside drying room is great place to hang wet suits when children come off the beach. Great customer service from Coastal Holidays. Would thoroughly recommend both them and the property. We’ve already booked to go back next year!

A great stay

The Moorings is a great place to relax and watch the world go by. I could spend hours in the sun room overlooking the bay with that stunning view. The property is spacious, clean and has lots of character. The kitchen is very well equipped. Information provided from the owners in the manual is excellent and very helpful. The Bay itself is quiet but has the basic amenities: a general shop, butchers, pharmacy, pub etc. There's coastal walks right on the doorstep too. We took my 80 yr old dad and I'd say it wasn't really suitable accessibility-wise both in and outside of the property there are a lot of steps, sloping garden and slippery surfaces. Unfortunately two of us fell whilst inside the property. The bathrooms could also do with an update. Other than that it was perfect!

Amazing place to stay!

We stayed at The Moorings as a family of 6 and had an amazing week! The Moorings was exceptionally clean and spacious, views were breathtaking and facilities were plentiful. Ideally located for walks around the bay and we found lots of very quiet beaches long the coastal trails. We greatly enjoyed our stay and definitely will be returning next year!

A Special Place for a Special Birthday

I almost don’t want to post this review as I want to keep The Moorings a secret but that wouldn’t be fair on the owners or prospective clients. The downstairs apartment is large and roomy and the views are to die for. It’s such a relaxing place, you have to drag yourself out, but it’s definitely worthwhile, such a beautiful area. The apartment has everything you need & very clean. Note: there’s an additional 40 min journey when you cross over to the island but it is worth the extra time. We will return.

An idyllic birthday weekend at the Moorings

To celebrate my husband's birthday we booked the Moorings for some of the family and the remainder of our party stayed a sort distance away in a separate property. The location is truly stunning but gaining entry in the dark on the Friday evening proved difficult. There is another door which also has a key safe but this is not in use. I feel it would benefit future guests if this was made clear. The property is extremely spacious with comfortable beds and adequate facilities. The views from the dining room are spectacular. The weather was glorious so we were able to take full advantage of them The kitchen is very well equipped but when we arrived on the Friday evening the dishwasher had not been switched on so we were short of cutlery. We purchases dishwasher tablets from the local shop on Saturday morning. I had to check before arrival if towels were privided which they were but again this could be made clearer. The log burner was wonderful and very easy to use. Firelighters and logs were provided which was a lovely touch. We replaced these before leaving. Overall I would definitely recommend this property and we will hopefully return at some point in the future.

Very enjoyable stay at The Moorings

Just returned from a weeks holiday at The Moorings (ground floor apartment). The location is superb - such a lovely sea view from many of the rooms, especially the dining room and the garden, which is huge. We loved the ladder with access to the beach. The house is very comfortable and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. It's also great to have somewhere with 3 bathrooms. Great customer service from Coastal Holidays. Would thoroughly recommend both them and the property. We've already booked to go back next year!

The Property: A lovely property in a fantastic location overlooking the bay We took the downstairs apartment which offered comfy beds and plenty of room to spread out, with garden to rear and a great little veranda to the side for coffee time or lunch. The lounge area is very cosy with full size TV and and a variety seating Owners provide full kitchen utilities and a washer and dryer. with extremely helpful owners if assistance is ever required., Location: The walks on the cliffside are to die for and there are several decent restaurants close by the 'Gladys', less than a mile away , we found the best quality in terms location atmosphere and food good and the 'Trecastle' in Bull Bay also decent. We did not try the local pub The Stagg, as it was a little too small for social distancing. Last., but not least, we found excellent service from Coastal Holidays. A good time had by all.

Magical memories made at The Moorings

Spent a family holiday at The Moorings and will definitely be back. The location is stunning with amazing views. The house was perfect for our needs and very well equipped with high quality utensils and equipment.

Fantastic views and peaceful location

This property was bright and clean and spacious with many pleasant aesthetic touches. The views from many of the rooms as well as from the garden are fantastic. It was wonderful to be able to climb out of the garden over the stile and scramble down the rocks to the sea. With 2 young people suffering badly with CFS/ME we only left Cemaes itself once, and they hardly left the property, but there was still plenty to appreciate and for the healthier members of the family to enjoy too.
