Welcome to Saint Philip Square, an award-winning collection of historic homes spanning nearly one city block of downtown Charleston. The Alexander Wilson House at 178 Unit B Saint Philip St. is a 2-bed 2-bath gem blending modern comfort with Charleston’s rich history just one block from King St. Recognized with 5 Carolopolis Awards and the SC Governor’s Award for Historic Restoration, this retreat offers a perfect location for families or groups seeking an authentic Charleston experience.

Bedroom 1: King bed, ensuite bath, end tables, reading lamps, computer/dressing table, and double closet.
Bedroom 2: Two queen beds, ensuite bath with soaking tub or kids’ bath, side table, and dressing table.

Bathroom 1: Marble and tile bath with shower head, separate hand held shower, and glass shower.
Bathroom 2: Tub/shower combination, glass door, rain shower head, and separate handheld shower.

Living Room:
Comfortable sofa, two upholstered swivel chairs, flat-screen TV, coffee table, marble top end tables.

This is not a typical short-term rental; it is not a renovated dependency or a newly constructed unit in an old neighborhood, nor is it situated on a tiny lot in a questionable or remote area. The old hardwood floors, tall ceilings, original moldings, plasterwork, windows, and doors exude a special warmth, character, and charm that is very difficult to achieve in new construction. The exterior copper roof and guttering provide additional warmth and character. It`s the real deal!

Tucked in a neighborhood behind busy King St this charming apartment was a gem! It was clean with incredibly comfortable beds and the porch was a terrific place to end the day. It was within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. A perfect place to stay while visiting Charleston.

Amazing day in Charleston. This was our first visit. Saint Phillips Square apartment was our little home away from home and we never wanted to leave. We enjoyed it so much. We stayed at this property for a brief getaway during the Charleston Wine & Food Festival 2025. The location was fantastic -- close enough to all of the action on King St but still somewhat quiet and removed. The apartment was well appointed and clean with lots of historic charm.

Absolutely perfect!

We had such a wonderful stay for a long girls’ weekend in Charleston! This was the most perfect apartment in the best downtown location right near King St! It was beautiful inside and nicely decorated. The apartment is in a perfect location either a quick walk or a short Uber ride to any destination.

can walk to everything and the property management is so friendly

We had such a great trip to Charleston, and this condo was the perfect spot for us. It was ideal for our family of 4
beautifully designed and very practical. It would also be great for 2/3 couples for a fun trip. Short walk to many restaurants/bars/shops in the King St area, easy on-site parking, really cool local architecture, and the property management was incredible. Definitely southern hospitality!

Wonderful Charleston Home Base

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The unit is gorgeous and well-equipped with everything you would need in the kitchen and bathrooms, plus super-soft beds and bedding. The unit has a great layout and we really appreciated each having our own ensuite bathroom. The location is perfect and we were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go in the area, plus we enjoyed the outdoor space and the easy parking. Highly recommended!

Our apartment was beautiful and perfect for the 5 of us. It was definitely high quality furnishings throughout. Our outdoor deck was lovely with nice furniture. The courtyard had several sitting areas and fountains. Walking distance to everywhere and we felt very safe. If we visit Charleston again, this is where we would stay. Very nice apartment for our family weekend trip

We are a family of five and we enjoy more upscale and quality accommodations, and this one delivered. Tucked away off the main drag but still close to the action. We felt safe and it was fairly quiet for a downtown location. The apartment was nicely updated and fully loaded. You will need to drive a few minutes to get to the heart of the action on Market and/or King but that’s what we preferred. To be fair and balanced, the only things I would nitpick on is the glass coffee table that made me a bit nervous because of our kids, and the futon sofa was a bit small for our family for movie night. Not a big deal for most people but the dishwasher was a bit hard to figure out but we eventually did. All in all, great spot to rent and we will definitely consider it again. Book it, you will be glad that you did.
