The rating would be five star except for your food in your restaurant. We had one dinner there included a lamb rump. It was absolutely tasteless. My chicken wrapped in prosciutto was only fair and I couldn’t finish it. The next evening we ate in the bar and the hamburger was inedible. Way too rich it seems to be filled with everything. I only wanted a hamburger. The staff at the desk was most helpful and we appreciate very much your having to pack all our things when we ended up in the hospital.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment, and it was by far the biggest hotel room we've ever been in, about 200 square metres (2200 sq ft). It occupies the whole of the 5th floor. Bedrooms were huge, lounge/kitchen/dining area was huge, the enclosed deck was huge. The dining table had seating for 10 people, plus there was another dining table for 4 people on the enclosed deck. Everything was spotless and new. No complaints at all. Would definitely go back.

The hotel is walkable to the center shopping area with restaurant choices.. easy to get tours and taxi or shuttle service. The restaurant has a decent breakfast, but the lunch and dinner are very good.. the room was clean, but I don’t like carpeting and that could probably be updated and the bed I thought needed a new mattress.. but it was still comfortable. They do have a laundry room and a small gym so it was a good stay overall and reasonably priced.

I think air conditioning would help. It was about 80 degrees in our room and with the one window to open it never cooled down. The black out curtains also did not completely close. Staff was great. An extra couple of towels would also be helpful.

My room was very pleasing and modern, offering an extremely comfortable bed and pillows. Wither bathroom was stylish and came with a great array of care products. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wonderful variety of hot and cold foods with a highlight of fresh honeycomb! Conveniently located in Latimer Square, the French Connection shuttle stops right outside. Highly recommended!

First time in Christchurch so the easy and central location of the hotel was the first plus. Everything was as expected- clean and quiet room and lot of towels. The bathroom was very clean also. Parking was safe. Breakfast had lot of choices and the poached eggs and hash browns were very good. Will recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Whilst not the most exciting hotel, can’t fault the Rydges Latimer on much. Good location a 10 min walk to downtown, staff were all very pleasant and efficient, room was nice and dinner at the restaurant was good. Good for a short stay

Hotel is tired and run down. Rooms look far older than 12 years old. Expected far more from Rydges chain. Front desk staff were underwhelming. Spoke with an Indian and Asian woman when we checked in. We arrived at 2.35pm but rooms were not ready. This was fine as check in was 3pm. What wasn’t fine was when I asked how much longer until the rooms were ready - they never got back to me. I had to ask again at 3pm and they were getting the key cards ready. Bathroom only fits one person at a time. Door opens into whoever is on the toilet! Showers will flood the bathroom floor if you don’t open the glass door inwards. We had a room on the third floor and opened the window as the AC unit was noisy. Big mistake. Recycling of glass bottles will be thrown into the bin late at night and delivery trucks will leave their engine running from 5am onwards. Forget getting any sleep in this woeful place! Do NOT stay here!
