The The Terrace Lodge at Toby Woods apartment is modern and also rustic, quiet, cozy, livable... much more than just a place to stay. The decor is unique: some brick floors, large brick fireplace with wood burner (free wood provided), brand new fully equipped kitchen, all rooms remodeled, lots of closet and cabinet space, comfortable beds, jetted (single) Jacuzzi tub, and two huge decks overlooking the woods and valley. Watch the squirrels play and birds fly, and keep an eye out for the deer that occasionally saunter by and munch on our flowers. The location is in Clarion Borough, but it's in a secluded quiet neighborhood at the end of the street. We have woods on two sides of the house. The location is off the beaten path but also close to everything!
The indoor pool is heated, 4 feet deep, and about 84 degrees. It's not the largest pool but you can still swim short laps and it's plenty to keep the kids entertained. The pool house is stocked with inflatables, water volleyball, and floating corn hole.
The apartment itself has lots to do with board games, puzzles, a dart board, chess, connect four, air hockey and ping pong table, and some books and magazines if you want to cozy up by the fire to read and relax.
All 3 TVs are smart TV's, you can sign in to your own streaming services or just watch one of the apps we already have loaded.
Accessibility: access to the apartment is only available via an exterior flight of stairs down to the deck. The chalet style house is built on a steep hill overlooking a forest valley and the apartment is below street level. We are happy to help carry luggage, just give one of us a shout. There's no avoiding a set of stairs when entering or exiting, and the pool also requires descending/ascending steps.
Please NO SMOKING OR VAPING anywhere on property. We do not have a designated smoking area. There are also no sidewalks or any public area where smoking can occur. Smoking will result in a minimum $250 fee and possibly higher if warranted.
Visitors: as the apartment is located in the first level of our home, approval of visitors is required but not unreasonably withheld. Parties are expressly not permitted.
Pool: We hope that your are able to enjoy use of the pool which we keep open year-round. Please only registered guests are permitted in the pool. Visitors may not use the pool. Also, no food/drink/glass in the pool area.
Guests have full private access to the lower level of the house. The only shared space is the laundry room which is in a separate locked area on the 1st level. Access to the apartment is down a set of stairs and through the sliding glass door on the lower deck. A concrete sidewalk, side deck, and exterior stairs on the side of the house lead down to the space. A secondary entrance/exit is located off the kitchen on the other side of the house. This door leads to a separate second set of stairs up to the parking area, and also the pool stairs. The pool can also be accessed off the upper deck area, again via a set of stairs.
The website default description states we have 4 beds - the apartment has one king bed, two twin beds, and a sleeper sofa bed.
The driveway can be a little hard to see at night, it is a semi-circle and a slightly below the road level. Please let us know if you have more than one car. We usually cannot fit more than two. Pickups with short trailers might fit but not please ask first.
There is a ‘Terrace Lodge’ sign next to the sidewalk that leads to the deck and stairs down to rear of the house and the apartment. An electronic keypad is on the wall next to the sliding glass door, and a unique 4 to 6 digit code is provided for each reservation. You have the option of self check-in, or we'd be happy to show you around and get you settled in.
Pets: we have 2 small older pups and my daughter has one, so we are a dog friendly family. If you are traveling with your dog let us know and we'll go over the details. We ask that you keep your dog leashed and please do not leave your dog unattended. It's a scary world out there for pups in unfamiliar surroundings.
Please note that we are allergic to cats so unfortunately we can't accommodate them.
As stated elsewhere, we live on site. Parties, excessive noise (that would bother our neighbors, for example), smoking, unapproved guests, etc are not permitted and guests will be asked to vacate with no refund.
The apartment is well suited for a short (or long!) family getaway, a business meeting, visiting relatives, passing through, attending PennWest activities, a short or long term work assignment, traveling nurses, things like that. We are kid friendly and sometimes they can get rambunctious, but the apartment is most definitely not adult party central. We really do want our guests to fully enjoy their stay but limits apply. We really are easy to get along with, although that’s difficult to see with all the ‘rules’ above. Past circumstances have necessitated spelling all those out plainly in writing. Apologies for the all caps. We appreciate your understanding!
We like to say that we’re here if you need us, and invisible if you don’t! We can have as much or as little interaction as you prefer.
The apartment is thoroughly inspected (and photos taken) prior to arrival to ensure all areas are as described and in clean and good condition. Please report any issues encountered as soon as possible - we want to ensure our guest's stay meets or exceeds expectations!
As with any apartment rental, damage over and above normal wear and tear is the responsibility of guests and will be billed accordingly in addition to the requirement to vacate with no refund. Some examples of damaging behaviors that may result in extra charges: using any form of dyes (e.g. hair dye), burning candles, rearranging the furniture, putting grease down the drains, not running water when using the garbage disposal, putting non-stick pans in the dishwasher, overflowing sinks, permitting pets to damage furniture/walls/floors, and driving through the neighbors lawn (yes all of these have happened).
Long-term stays of 28 days or more - a signed lease is required.
