You’ll find we provide all the basic necessities such as dish soap, Keurig coffee/tea, salt/pepper, cooking spray, and basic condiments. Laundry Room has washer and dryer available for guest use, plus we have an outdoor clothes line. We provide limited laundry detergent for washing and 3 wool balls which you may use in leu of dryer sheets.
Outdoor Areas include front porch, brick patio, seating areas, full-sized propane grill, and huge grassy yard.
You will be provided an electronic door code to access front door of house. Please double check front and back doors are locked every time you leave the house. Downtown Cody is busy during the summer months and the otherwise small town will be bustling with thousands of visitors each day.
Upon checkout, guests are asked to leave kitchen clean, load and run dishwasher, remove all trash, set thermostats as instructed, close blinds, and generally leave contents of house in neat and orderly fashion. Damage should be reported immediately per instructions at house.
House rules:
1. No smoking or vaping on property including outside areas.
2. No parties, NO PETS, and no unregistered overnight guests. No exceptions.
3. Children under 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
4. If your group has more than one vehicle, please advise owner before checkin.
5. We provide a generous stash of “car towels” which guests may use outside the house for wiping down cars, cleaning shoes, sports equipment, pool use, etc. Please do not use the regular bath towels for non bathing activities.
6. Damage deposit will be forfeited if there are more people than claimed in your reservation or if you bring in a pet. This means you must claim all persons who will be sleeping in the house on your reservation, including children, infants, and overnight guests.
Note: This is a quirky old house. The floors squeak, the windows rattle if it’s super windy, the old door knobs and original wooden doors can stick at times, there is a step down into the dining room, the bathroom off the kitchen is not ideally situated for modern living, the A/C is a window unit while the heat is radiant wall panels in living and dining rooms (meaning bedroom doors may need stay open while sleeping), and the original cast iron sink and tub definitely show their age in surface imperfections. The house is charming, comfortable, and clean. But please be aware: this is not a polished, modern hotel.
House history: This home has been in my family since the 1920s. Originally the property contained only a one room bachelor studio. My great-great uncle Henry added the front four rooms in 1929 using a Sears Kit Home. After his death, my great grandmother Agnes inherited the property. Together with her husband Charlie, they connected the original one room house to the kit home house with the room we now call the dining room. Charlie would also add a screened porch and dig a root cellar deep into the hill behind the house.
The old black and white photo depicts my dad at age 7 standing in front of his grandparents house. In 1953, Agnes sold the house after her husband’s death. From 1953 to 1999, the house would only change hands twice. For most of those years, the house was a rental property. In 1999, I purchased the house which as a child I had affectionately called “Gaga’s House,” and it has been back in my family ever since. In 2018-2019, my husband and I completed some extensive updating to the home and purchased all new furniture, mattresses, and linens in anticipation of making it available as a vacation rental.
