Walk to Downtown restaurants, bars, breweries, and much more. House backs up to a neighborhood park with a playground, running and biking paths, and is a quarter-mile to the downtown strip. Despite being so close to downtown, this is a surprisingly private and quiet location. This is the lower unit to a beautifully restored, craftsman home, duplex in the best part of the city. Fully stocked kitchen,: coffee, cream, sugar, pots and pans, etc. for your mornings. Stove intentionally disabled but electric range and air fryer provided. Queen bed in one bedroom. A queen bed and twin bunk bed in the second bedroom. Additionally, the couch in the living room sleeps one adult if needed. There is a Roku hooked up to the living room television. High speed internet.

We didn’t get the 7am check in message with our code, I had to message the host. Listing pictures don’t match what the inside actually looks like. There was a screw sticking out of the bunk bed stairs that my son snagged his pants on. You have to share laundry with the peg legged tenants upstairs, so let’s hope they’re home when you plan to wash your clothes. The smoke detector was dismounted and lying on top of the fridge. There were random ziplock bags with ice in them in the freezer. There was black mold in the bathroom above the shower. The key doesn’t even unlock the deadbolt, lol. The sofa chair was stained and the floors in the main bedroom were dirty with balled up hair and a used fork. We left around 1700 to get food and came back to the gate closed and the Main Street parking spots taken. My husband and I felt extremely unsafe, so I spent 2 hours the first night connecting with a separate Vrbo host who graciously got us into a much better home with similar pricing. Unfortunately, we spent extra money to do this but it was absolutely worth it.I was much more worried about re-locating and protecting my family than I was about messaging the negatively reviewed host, Jessica, who would’ve likely (according to other reviews) fought with me about my concerns and issues.So please, if you plan to stay in Colorado Springs, you can find much better homes that have amenities and are safer for the same price as this outhouse.Thank you!

Over all we would stay there again but preferably in the upstairs house. Was a bit tight for 4 adults but would be fine for 2 or 3. Pros - Price. Easy to find, Close to lots of activities. Comfortable. Owners accommodated early check-in request. Felt safe. Negatives- Need better lighting at door to see the key pad and inside the apartment and in the laundry area (light wasn’t working at all) Ceiling fan doesn’t work. Main bedroom closet was full of storage items so not enough room for hanging clothes. This is a basement apartment so we heard the noise from the upstairs tenants who seem to just be getting started at 9 pm until wee hours of the morning. No welcome package. We found pamphlets, games etc. later, in a junk drawer.

The kitchen had a coffee make, air fryer microwave and toaster oven for cooking. There were 2 hot plates that we didn’t try. The pots to cook in were very limited- 1 small frypan and 2 small saucepans. There were some basic kitchen ingredients like salt, pepper, sugar, flour, coffee etc. beds were very comfortable, plenty of towels provided. Adequate for our stay and most reasonable VRBO around.

Description listed AC but the thermostat did not work nor could we ever find where the air came out of. After our adventures in town it would have been nice to come back to a cool place. Smoke alarm is also faulty and kept going off. We eventually just had to take it down and keep the battery out (we did put the battery back in and put it back up before we left). Other than these two things the rest of our stay was nice and we enjoyed the area it was in.

Disgusting, nothing like the photos in the listing!

Had an awful experience. This “apartment” is nothing like the photos. Absolutely disgusting, run down, and dirty! I had to clean the fridge before putting our food inside. Black mold all over the bathroom ceiling. Toilet barely flushes. Bloody tissue in the bathroom. 3” layer of dust on the fans. Closets filled with junk so there’s nowhere to put any of your stuff. Trash cans smelled like a dead rodent was inside the cabinet. And worst of all, spiders and bugs EVERYWHERE! I killed at least 50 spiders & several other bugs that we saw were coming in through the front door that didn’t seal. My daughter had a panic attack and neither one of us could sleep. I tried doing laundry in a laundry room that looked like a hoarder lived in! It was so gross that I had to book a hotel room and get out of there because we didn’t feel safe! The host did not respond to any messages from me or VRBO support. Do NOT stay here, I wish someone would have warned me before I booked! Absolutely disgusting and the host shouldn’t even be allowed to list this place. It’s a basement run down dump that’s infested with bugs. Also back yard has a disgusting trailer in it that I’m pretty sure someone lives in. Worst VRBO I’ve ever stayed at! I wish I could post more than 8 photos, but these at least show you a little bit of what you’re getting when you rent this place.

Good Inexpensive Option

The property was great for what we needed it for. It was an inexpensive option for 6 guys and while it was a little tight, it offered enough space for us all to lay our heads down at night. The location is pretty good with it being about a 15-20 minute walk from downtown. Everything was clean and fairly well kept. The owner was very responsive, even early in the morning when there was an issue with being blocked in the driveway by the neighbors. Again, this is probably one of the best inexpensive options if you’re looking for a simple place to use as a home base while you go out and do stuff.There were, however, a few things that could have been improved:- The weeds are very tall on both sides of the driveway and being the house. Would be much nicer if these were cut down. - Parking. While there was enough room for all of our vehicles in the driveway, there is only one way in and out. If the neighbor decides to park in the driveway there is no way out. We found this out at 2am when one of our party had to leave to catch a flight in Denver and could not get out. I think if the weeds were cut down the driveway would be wide enough for two vehicles. - A/C unit. The unit is portable and worked well, but we had to figure out how to set it up. Our party is very technical and was able to figure it out, but for others it may be wise to either have it set up upon arrival or provide instructions on how to set it up. - Fans. Only one box fan and living room fan did not work.

Interaction with host was confrontational

While the price point was attractive, the overall experience fell short of expectations. Communication with the host could have been more pleasant. An incident involving a closet door that fell off the hinges was met with an unexpected level of accusation. Additionally, the stove did not work, and fear of further confrontation prevented us from seeking host assistance. The promised 7am check-in email was not received, adding to the inconvenience.Unfortunately, this experience contrasts sharply with our previous positive host interactions on VRBO. It's recommended that the host focus on improving guest communication and resolving issues calmly.Furthermore, the lack of consistent hot water due to extended laundry use by other guests was a significant inconvenience. For future travelers, exploring alternative accommodations may be advisable.
