Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
I stayed at Generator Hostel last night and had a very mixed experience.
Pros:
• The staff is absolutely excellent—friendly, helpful, and professional. Full marks to the front desk and service team.
• The common areas like the bar and lounge are well-designed and welcoming.
• Lockers are convenient and provide a sense of security.
Cons:
• Dormitory experience was disappointing. Guests were drying their clothes on their beds, which made the room feel messy and unhygienic.
• Poor ventilation in the rooms—windows are kept closed due to cold weather, making it stuffy and difficult to breathe, especially for someone with asthma.
• Beds are extremely close to each other, leaving almost no personal space. The cramped setup adds to the discomfort.
• A lot of snoring and noise makes it hard to sleep in shared rooms.
• Bathrooms and toilets are located inside the dorms, which means eight people sharing one small space creates lingering smells and general discomfort.
• Elevators are noisy and feel a bit unstable, which doesn’t inspire confidence.
Overall: While the staff and common areas are great, the actual sleeping and hygiene conditions in the dorms need serious improvement. Not recommended for anyone sensitive to air quality, noise, or looking for a restful stay.
