This was our first time staying at a Bed & Breakfast & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the unique Upper Humber Settlement. Breakfast each morning of our stay was fresh from the farm. Ingrid, who provided us with our breakfast, would join us at our table after serving us to talk about what we had done the previous day & what we were planning to do that day. She would provide us with information on the area & Newfoundland in general. Great introduction to Newfoundland hospitality.
Such a great place. Too bad we were not able to stay long. There is a shared bathroom, that was very clean. They offer a breakfast, which was probably outstanding with all their fresh fruits, vegetables and eggs - yes they have chickens, geese, lambs and vegetable gardens and strawberries growing there. However, we had to leave early to catch the ferry and weâre still offered a great continental breakfast. Such a refreshing and relaxing place to stay. A glimpse of living close to the land. They also host my add-ons, including farm to table experience.
Very comfortable attractive accommodations. Excellent breakfast. Friendly welcoming hosts, providing knowledgeable insight into farming practices in central Newfoundland, as well as social traditions.
I liked that the common room area was large so we could relax and talk with other guests about our vacation adventures.
Also, the breakfast made for use was very good and with lots of options.
I knew this was a working farm but I didnât expect construction noise and no water upon arrival. Our room was spacious and comfortable but not sound proof at all. You can hear the other guests in the common spaces as well as getting up in the night. The opening and closing of doors is not quiet. Youâll also hear the staff in the early morning making breakfast and other guests chatting. Breakfast was disappointing. I thought it was going to be a delicious big farm breakfast. It was 2 overcooked hard boiled eggs, toast, a very small dish of yogurt, a couple of cherry tomatoes and green onions. There were also mediocre scones. Unfortunately, i I canât say I found our stay relaxing nor peaceful. And the mosquitoesâŠ!!! Oh well, we tried something different. It just wasnât for us.
Very nice, quiet place to stay. Beautiful home cooked breakfasts provided or self serve if you need to leave early. Transportation in and out of Deer Lake is limited, so they even provided me with an early morning ride to the airport for a small fee. Id defintely book here again if I was in the area.
Ran out of peanut butter, milk, cream and all juices but one on day one and did NOT replenish for day 2!
The little amount of meat served was only enough for a 4 year old.
Friendly though
A unique, comfortable, and very friendly spot to enjoy some downtime. The facilities were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. A fabulous homemade breakfast in the morning was followed by a tour of their working farm. A great experience all around at a reasonable price.
It was a lovely stay here at the farm house thanks to the kind hosts and owners. They made delicious breakfast and suggested lots of places to visit, also learned alot from the conversations we had. Will book this place again in the future.
Perfect for a nice quiet stay in the country. Very reasonably priced and homey atmosphere. I was without a vehicle, so taxi from the airport cost me $50. Beautiful fresh cooked breakfasts provided as well as some self serve items. It would have been nice to have some options for other meals. I'd defiinitely come back if I was ever in the area again, but I'd rent a car.
Fun Farm experience feeding animals with farm to table breakfasts and optional special dinner with story telling.
Food was fresh and delicious!
The staff and owners were amazing.
