Cute little apartment, in a safe lovely neighborhood. I stay in Crescent City regularly for business and family trips, but this was a solo trip without my kids. I dislike the hotels in town so checked out this place. It was indeed a little Hideout. Cute cabin decor, kitchenette, living room where I could have a glass of wine with my family in town. The bedroom was large with a very comfortable bed. The grounds were wonderfully country with the requisite chickens, ducks and cat. Communications with Aneka, the owner, were great. Would recommend!
It was exactly as described and right up our alley. Quaint loft apartment above a barn. Surrounded by nature. Abelâs was absolutely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Just the perfect host. If you are looking for sleek and modern this is not the place for you but if you like hidden, cozy, country experiences this is it. I could have spent my whole trip snuggled in the bed with a coffee and a good book listening to the roosters crow.
Very clean home and nicely decorated. Fully stocked kitchen (pot/pans, spices, condiments including butter). Fully stocked bathroom with shampoo, conditioner, kitten, cotton swabs, cotton balls, hair dryer. The bed was so comfortableâŠ.the best nights of sleep I gotten in sucked a long time. All we had to do was bring our clothes and some food and we were set!! I could tell the host was very conscientious and proud to share her home. Loved it there and would stay again. Such a wonderful host
Hard time finding the place. No address or phone number on website or VRBO. Had to yell over fence to get in on arrival. However the proprietor was lovely and very helpful. We enjoyed our conversations with her very much.
Aneka was a wonderful host - kind and welcoming. She shared good information about the area and places to eat. Jedediah Smith State Park is very close as well as the beach.
I absolutely loved staying here! Aneka is gracious and a tremendous hostess. Even had fresh eggs in the fridge, and I could have gotten more if I needed. Chickens and ducks in the yard too. Such a beautiful place. I just wish the weather had been better, but thatâs just the way it is up here. I recommend this small place to anyone or couples traveling through. Iâd love to come back someday!
Pros: Host was friendly, location was nice, and the exterior was cute with flowers in the window boxes and chickens in the yard. It was nice to have a fridge and the bed was really comfortable. Cons: Unfortunately, it smelled bad and was not as clean as youâd expect. The oven didnât work properly and burned our food.
We had a wonderful, cozy stay! Very well appointed, clean and neat space and comfortable bed. I appreciated the proximity to the Redwood Forest and the beach. The host, Aneka, is kind and gave wonderful recommendations for the area. We will stay here again and highly recommend!
Amazing location and property! So close to beaches and the parks plus a terrific place to have our dog with us- we felt very welcome. The apartment is cozy and nicely decorated with everything you might need. We will stay here every time weâre in Crescent City if itâs available!
Close to the Redwoods. Host gave us really great information about how to access the parks. Pet friendly - she even had a couple of really wonderful bones for our dog. Loved having chickens and ducks in the yard
We arrived later than expected and our host, Aneka, was very gracious and helpful with restaurant recommendations. The place was comfortable with many amenities. The sound of the ducks and chickens added a homey atmosphere.
Check-in was a breeze, we showed up kind of late, so we met her in person, and she handed us the gate remote and keys. Told us the basic details of what we needed to know, and that was it! Extremely comfortable, clean and cozy place, kitchen had all the basic seasonings and some even extra pantry foods and condiments. Very homey and calm vibe. We really enjoyed the chickens and ducks! I will definitely be back next time Iâm in town.
Great stay! A lovely little spot close to the redwoods and the coast. Aneka is a great host and shared a couple ideas of things to do. We loved the chickens, ducks, and cats too.
Aneka was an excellent host!!! She was very very communicative and helpful. She told us where to find the best gas, where to get good food, and even put out some lawn chairs for us to use when we are out enjoying the parks.
The place is very cute. Looks wise, we loved the space. Cute space with a cozy couch, cute little kitchen and lots of fun decor. Itâs a one bedroom but has plenty of room for three people and even more if you wanted. Theres so much charm, itâs a great spot. Not to mention the amazing barn life!!! We loved the chickens and ducks, what a wonderful experience to hear those roosters in the morning! Made me smile.
The issue we ran into was the smell of mildew, that seemed to get worse throughout our stay, as it got warmer with the heater on, or when we used the shower. It was noticeable all the time, but even more so when we would go in and out of the house. We needed to leave windows open all of the time because of this. I would consider the smell of mildew a really big issue for our stay. I think that with a good deep cleaning of carpets and interior that it might be able to help, as the couch blanket also had a smell.
We also wish there was a fire pit, as the house amenities state. There is a small chimenia type thing, but it isnât usable as a fire pit by any means. So that was a bummer.
We really did love the place, location, the host was incredible, the chickens, it was lovely. The smell was the only problem, although it was a significant one.
The Hideout was everything we needed it to be - quiet, comfortable, clean, and nurturing. The property's well water was delicious and the surrounding neighborhood couldn't be more beautiful. Great location, less than 10 minutes to town, trees, beach... My son was especially delighted by the host's flock of chickens and ducks. Thank you!
