This place was a pleasant surprise! The rooms are older but well taken care of. The surrounding grounds are beautiful with many blooming flowers. There are several places tuxked away to sit and relax. This is a beautiful hotel and very close to the center of Custer.

Highly recommend

The Barbarian Inn surpassed all my expectations! The staff was welcoming and accommodating right from the moment we checked in. Added bonus of milk and cookies every afternoon was a wonderful touch. The room was clean with all the amenities. Laundry was available. The flowers were amazing all around the property. Enjoyed breakfast at Feel Good Cafe which was a short walk. We will certainly return during our next visit!

High Recommendation

The room was clean and welcoming. The beds were very comfortable. The facilities were excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend the Bavarian Inn as a great place to stay!

It’s like the owners are doing their best with an older, somewhat run down property. I don’t really use amenities at a hotel as I’m out and about, so judge primarily on the room. All staff was very friendly. The room was OK - old but clean enough. The AC unit needed a good vacuum. I did use, and very much appreciated, the free washing facility provided. It was pricey for what it was, but we made the mistake of being there when the Sturgis bike rally was on. I would stay again if the price point was right.

Comfy beds, older property well-kept and updated. So many unique creative details show owners want guests to enjoy the stay: from the giant chess and connect 4 games to the children's book nook near the whirlpool. Loved the beautiful flowers everywhere and the Bavarian touches! The cafe onsite was a short walk away - enjoyed the variety of breakfast foods and coffees!

We loved our stay so very much! The staff are so polite and helpful. There was sooo much for our family to do (swim, pickleball, basketball, playground, chalk, bubbles... you name it). It really felt like a resort. The convenience of getting more supplies was top notch. The Gluten Free options at the on-site restaurant was truly AMAZING. We'd recommend this place to anyone! Burn me once!

The food at the Cafe was barely warm. Looked better on the menu. We had a bottom-level room, and it sounded like a herd of buffalo went back and forth across the room. The floor should be soundproof. This happened early in the morning and at night.

Best hotel I've ever stayed at!

This was probably the cleanest and most unique property that I have ever stayed at. They have every single possible amenity covered. They even have free laundry facilities AND free laundry soaps! I loved every single part of our stay. Sad that we only got to stay one night- it was incredible!
