I arrived after dark to find both the property and the estate shrouded in darkness.
I had to use my phone flashlight to safely make my way to the front door and inside the lobby. There is no porch light and the front door was unlocked. There are multiple reminders posted near the front doors as well as on the printed instructions to not lock the front door. The reason was that I could lock other guests out.
There were no lights on inside the very large house, which as a female traveling alone, was rather unnerving.
The bedroom doors lock with a skeleton key. Charming, except for the fact that the front door was to remain unlocked. I pushed furniture up against the door as I was afraid for my safety.
The lamp and the nightlight in my bedroom did not work. The body wash container in the shower was empty and its replacement was on the shower floor. There was a lot of hair on the inside of the shower door and the handle to change shower heads fell off into my hand.
I chose not to stay the second night as there was a male guest staying at the estate. I did not feel comfortable knowing I was alone with a stranger with only a skeleton key lock between myself and them.
