This property has been recently restored and opened Sept 2022 to welcome guests to the Danville, Virginia Area.
The Mansion on Main is a 7 bedroom, 6 bathroom home located in the Historic District of Danville, Virginia. It is formerly known as the Lawson-Overbey Inn, which was originally built in the 1800s with renovations taking place in 1911, 1972, and most recently, 2022. This property features a mix of Italianate and Georgian design and architectural elements.
Each room has a unique feel with a mix of eclectic furniture that takes you back in time.
From the front of the home, you can immediately feel the grandeur of it and its coziness at the same time. Up the staircase, you'll find rocking chairs to sit and relax and watch the passersby on Main Street. When you enter through the double doors, you're welcomed by a large and spacious hallway.
The main level hosts a variety of sitting areas, a piano room, a social bar, a grand dining room, and a main floor master bedroom with an attached bathroom. It also holds the kitchen, overflow gallery, a sunroom dining area, and laundry room with an additional full bathroom. The kitchen is filled with everything you will need to prepare a meal for friends and families. From a kitchen aid mixer to blenders, large serving trays, pots and pans, salt/pepper/oil/spices, dinnerware, glassware, and much more. The kitchen has a commercial/restaurant-grade oven and gas stove to create chef-inspired meals.
Step outside the dining room to enter a large balcony that overlooks the garden. The balcony has built-in seating and foldable tables and chairs are available for extra seating. There is a large gas-operated gas griddle, gas grill, and gas firepit outside as well.
The lower level includes a lower-level master bedroom, a full bathroom, a large entertainment area with a movie theatre, a foosball table, a billiards room, a small hair salon, and a sauna room. There is also a secondary laundry room as well as an additional refrigerator/freezer.
The upper level takes you to a grand hallway with five bedrooms and three full bathrooms. Three bedrooms have two queen-size beds, while the fourth has one queen and two twins, and the fifth bedroom has 6 full-size bunk beds (3 sets of full over full). The hallways are not air-conditioned but three rooms have their own A/C window units. Two of the rooms have portable fans but are connected to rooms with AC units. The heat in this home is operated by radiator heating units.

​Outside, guests can enjoy the expansive gardens that the property has to offer. Sit poolside or dip into the saltwater pool on a Summer's day. Relax by the Koi pond, spread a blanket out under the shaded lawn, or sunbathe by the gazebo. There's space for everyone to spread out and relax in this backyard. While everything within the home functions properly, there may be some quirks like random pipes or light switches that don't do anything. You will also see some wear and tear due to the age of the property. For example, bathroom tiles and laundry room sinks are original.

Exterior cameras are located on this property for security purposes. There are no cameras located inside. The home is on keyless entry and has contact-free check-in. We use GetDuve for online check-in and guest ID verification prior to providing check-in instructions. A floorplan is available to guests upon request or at the time of booking (in the listing photos and on our site). A security/damage deposit is required of all guests, regardless of the booking portal. For Airbnb guests, this is collected when you fill out our online check-in form (7-14 days prior to your arrival).

Accessibility: This property is not handicap accessible. There are a lot of stairs to get inside and all throughout the house. If you need a more accessible rental, please check out our Greensboro or Charlotte properties which both have elevators and handicap access.
