Stunning location
What a great find! Beautiful rustic cottage in a wonderful location . Within a stones throw of the beach and 2 pubs you really couldn't ask for more. There was everything you need in the cottage for a very comfortable stay and a garden to sit in the sun. 10 mins at the most to drive into Deal if we wanted more shops and bars.
We were there for 3 nights and would have stayed longer if we could have - wonderful

Absolutely recommend Rumbosun
Booked the cottage for my elderly parents and they absolutely LOVED it. Lovely location, really well looked-after and cozy, good beds, tasteful interior. Theyâll come again!

Lovely quiet cottage
We had a very comfortable stay in Rumbosun. The cottage has everything you need and the location is great for walks to St Margaretâs Bay and Deal.
We did flag a few things up with the letting agent on our departure, particularly the garden which is in need of some tlc as dome of the bushes were very overgrown. We received a prompt reply to say that these would be sorted.

Great week
The cottage was compact but had everything needed for our stay. As noted by previous guests the sofas weren't very comfortable and were very low. Also the mattresses were very soft. Oven wasn't working but Keepers Cottages arranged for someone to fix it towards the end of our stay.
Perfect location right by the beach and great fish and chips at The Rising Sun pub at end of road and friendly staff.

Excellent location
I have stayed in the area previously but wanted a suitable place to bring my dog. The cottage didn't disappoint.
There is a lot of space in this cottage with a lovely big garden, which is a real sun trap.
The cottage is clean and has character with two lovely bedrooms up a very steep flight of stairs.
The only issue was the uncomfortable sofas as they are very low.
The cottage is a couple of minutes walk from the beach and the wonderful Zetland Arms which serves morning coffee and Swedish buns. You can walk from the cottage to Deal, without being on the road, it takes about 1 hour. This was ideal for us and the dog.
Perfect!
A unique location. Enjoyable place to holiday and relax. Great community and excellent walking trails. Historic sites close by and great pub food in close walking distance. The accommodation has an excellent bathroom and kitchen. Stairs are risky and neck-breaking. Master bedroom has a very small double-bed. Some nice pieces of antique furniture but most furniture in lounge and dining is not in good condition and broken lounges need replacing. Dining table too fragile to be used. Laneway at front door is dirt, busy with traffic and very dusty. Can't leave front door open... car covered in thick dust each day.Cottage has a lovely 'feel' about it and overall it was an enjoyable stay.
This was our second visit to Rumbosun. The cottage is lovely, well appointed and great location near the beach.
The rooms are comfortable, light and airy. There is a great enclosed garden which was ideal for the dog, which back gate access, so that they we didn't have to come back through the house.
It is very peaceful here as there isn't a lot of noise, even with renovation work across the road.
Being able to park at the back of the house was very useful too.
There a couple of minor things which require addressing in the house as it is old, the main issue being the living room sofas as they are very low and extremely uncomfortable. One of the sofas is broken and is propped up with a footstool. If these sofas were replaced the cottage would be perfect.
I will probably visit again, if the sofas were replaced.

Wonderful Haven
The cottage is a wonderful haven, the charming front garden is an invitation into the welcoming, cosy space within.
The rooms all flow through comfortably and the decor has a great beach vibe.
The kitchen is well equipped and the shower is great.
The garden is sunny with perfect shady spots and easy access for bikes to be stored at the rear.
Fantastic to be able to go straight onto beach pretty much from both rear and front gardens.
The sofas do not offer the best comfort and the dining area is a bit dark, particularly in Winter. We resolved this by putting a side lamp in the far corner on the dining table which may not be suitable with a larger group.
That being said, we have stayed in the cottage a few times and would be very happy to back there.

Tea on the beach
Nothing better than making a cuppa, walking 2 mins up to beach and enjoying the view! This is why this cottage is in such a perfect location. We know Kingsdown very well and although the weather did not behave itself, it was lovely to be back. The cottage is very well equipped and nicely furnished (not the usual beach chic) and the garden is a good size and sheltered from any sea breezes.
The beach community is very friendly and someone will always stop for a chat, it's a great place to watch the world go by. It was very rejuvenating after lockdown.
A note for the less abled...the stairs are VERY steep, but if you use the rope bannister carefully they're fine.
We parked round the back, which meant we could access cottage through the back garden gate, this relieves pressure for spaces for the residents in North road.

Disappointing
Very well-located cottage, but overall disappointing. Very poor value for money. There is only a downstairs bathroom, which is very inconvenient. The cottage was freezing cold in late March (not sure if the heating was even on?). It generally had a look of not being cared for, and coasting on its (excellent) location. At least the kitchen was well-appointed (if tiny). Given it was only marginally less expensive per night than Downs Cottage around the corner for it (where we had a most excellent stay in 2022), this was truly very disappointing. We only stayed one night so didnât bother making a fuss.
Wonderful stay in this sterotypical fishrman's cottage very close to the beach in Kingsdown. The listing is reasonably accurate with these exceptions:
- There is no balcony
- There is a patio out back with table and chairs
- There is a barbecue
- The double bed is not big - especially for anyone over 6'
Everything else is a fair representation. The house is very clean and has a nice shabby chic vibe to it. We've never stayed anywhere with such a large and eclectic collection of crockery! We stayed with our adult daughter and felt that 3 was a perfect number, 4 people would be ok too. 5 (using rollaway) would be tight unless they are younger children. As UK showers go, this one is fab, and the whole bathroom is functional. The stairs are quite narrow so we found it helpful to leave a light on downstairs for those needing the bathroom in the night.
Location wise, the place is spectacular. A few yards from the Rising Sun and the Zetland and a short stroll to the butchers, the Kings Head, St John's church, and the Post Office/store.
You can walk in so many directions from the house, along the beach and up the cliffs, along Upper Street and into the woods, or along the beach the other way to Walmer and Deal. A wander up to Hawksdown is not to be missed!
As others have mentioned, if driving, park to the rear of the property leaving North Road to the residents.
Bottom line - would happily stay here again!
