Slow service & too got

Had to knock on the front door and press the buzzer for quite some time before being let in at about midnight. When I got to my room it was like a sauna, way too hot!

I booked two rooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles. We were given two rooms each with two single beds. One room was too small. Our rooms were on the third floor without lift. Was hard to go up and down so many steps.

Unpleasant welcome very rude the hotel was nothing like the pictures the room was very small dusty we reserved for two guests the room only had one pillow i asked reception for a pillow has there was only one he said no because of tje hotel is shut due to bed bugs that concerned me but we travelled far to leave we woke up with bites i went to the pharmacy they said there bites have i stayed anywhere unclean

The rooms don't lock properly so there is an issue with safety. There are little black fruit flies buzzing round the open windows- not sure why? Have only seen these round rotting fruit. The bathroom was rank- utterly dirty and needs a good clean. The shower curtain was brown from old skin (these can be washed you know!) and sink, bathroom tiles just hadn't seen a good scrub in awhile. The walls of the bedroom had something sliding down them- water? Oil? Weird paint? I don't know but it wasn't at all pleasant. The hotel is obviously trying to make improvements as there's new carpet in places (dirty old carpet in other places). Some areas look freshly painted- others not so. Altogether not really habitable For guests atm.

Booked delux double room with a sofa bed for 2 adults and 1 child but there was no bedding for the sofa bed. When I asked for bedding I was told that there were no available duvets but the man on the desk found one that he said had been cleaned. I took it to the room to discover that it was badly stained. I took it back to him and he said there was nothing he could do. It’s now the final night and still the same situation except now he’s saying we only booked for 2 people although I showed him the booking I made with Hotel.com for 2 adults and 1 child. He says I need to take it up with who I booked it with. I paid the hotel on arrival. I wish I could have waited.

Nice budget hotel 1 minute walk from train station , there are lots of stairs between rooms so not ideal for elderly , my stay was fine, and didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that

Nice to see this hotel open again. Very convenient for the rail station (as in across the road!) Not much to look at from the outside but clearly a lot of money has been spent inside - refreshed, repainted, new carpet. Furniture in room could do with an update as it looks it’s age now, and the bathroom likewise as broken plug chain, no mixer taps and especially the horrid shower curtain lets the side down a bit after all the renovation. Room and hotel was always clean and tidy, while all the staff we encountered were always professional and friendly. Can’t comment on breakfast as this time we didn’t book any, but the breakfast room looked pleasant. It was perfectly OK to get food delivered and eat in the lounge. It’s not on the quietest or nicest of streets (unless you like curry or real ale - which we do and was one of the reasons we came back)! But that’s not the hotels fault!
