I've stayed at several Marston's hotels before and they have been high standard for a budget brand. The KIng's Highway is poor. It is starting to look run down. A bed with a protrudiing spring, a collapsing bed settee, and in my first room a window with a broken handle.

Room and bed comfortable Bathroom needed cleaning . It had fresh towels but sink and bath were left unclean with an old used bar of soap left on the bath.

Room had long black hair in bath when arrived. Pillows flat and uncomfortable. No lift which caused an issue as had newborn baby and 5 year old, suitcase, and cot all to get up the stairs. Couldn’t bring pram due to no lift so had to struggle carrying car seat and all other luggage. Checking in at the bar with all luggage and children while people drinking and being noisy wasn’t great for the kids. Lots of people smoking out back over looking child play area, was raining any way but if it wasn’t I wouldn’t feel comfortable my child playing with loads of smokers around. Breakfast was too salty and had burnt toast under avocado. Wouldn’t stay again with kids. No staff offered to help me even though it was clear I was struggling with luggage. Members of public held doors and helped but staff should be more helpful.

Kings Highway without a Kings ransom!

Comfortable rooms attached to an excellent Marston Inn. Free parking, great value, exemplary service. Attended a sports event with a group of friends. Eight people were more than satisfied with their accommodation and meals.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Only warm water, no heating, poor cleaning of the room and a potential for mold and bacteria the way the kettle was left with the lid down and soaking wet coffee cups placed upside down on a tray. Dirty drinking glasses with something like sand in them and smeared mirrors. Plus the edges of the carpet was extremely dusty. Breakfast at the inn was basic, help yourself to boxed cereal, watery orange juice, dry bacon that tasted as if it had been barbequed. Would not recommend
