Stay away from rooms at end of hotel.

Our room was at the end of the hotel on the first floor and had a musty smell. The rug was wet. Any clothes left out in the room for the day were wet from humidity when we got back, even with air at 66. Our other room was not humid across from the pool. The beds were very squeaky in that room. Other than that it was nice.

Our room was far from cleaned. Upon entering we were hit with a musty odor, smelled a little like wet dog and a floral scent to try and cover it up. Dirty cabinets, smeared with who knows what on the outside. You could clearly see finger prints, and smears from some oily substance from a dirty hand. Walls were covered in spots with unknown contents, smushed bugs in a couple places (no bedbugs though, we checked thoroughly). Bathroom was very grimy with holes in the tub, sink was stained, clogged, and slow to drain. Good water pressure in the shower though. We wore shoes the entire time inside the room because the carpets were very dirty and left our socks and feet covered in filth. You can tell right away that the walls/baseboards never get wiped down or cleaned (especially the living room and bathroom areas). I wasn't aware when booking that this was mainly a truckers hotel, so keep that in mind when booking. We can't comment on the breakfast as we didn't attempt to eat. If they can't properly clean the rooms I can't trust that food is handled properly either. To be honest we tried to spend as little time in the room as possible. If we had a longer stay we would have checked out immediately and gone to a different hotel. Lesson learned to do better research next time, we won't be staying here again. (I took pictures)

Well worth staying at

We were just planning to stay the night before our flight the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised with their facilities. The hotel was quiet, no airport noise, staff was friendly, they had a nice size pool and an activity room I would love to have at my own house! The breakfast was the best we have seen! Our only minor complaint is that it is out by itself, no restaurants nearby.

Everything was very nice. There was some cosmetic issues in the bathroom specifically the sink area, chips and etc, also the kitchen area had the same problem. You need to do some fixing on the counter tops. There were no silverware in the kitchen. Only dinnerware. The pool was very nice. The staff was great. Would definitely stay again.

Our first choice in Des Moines

This hotel is our first choice when staying in Des Moines. Rooms are clean, breakfast is more than adequate, and the staff is friendly. This time Housekeeping knocked on our door to ask if we needed linens, and when we returned to the room, extra towels had been placed in the bathroom. We're not high flyers, we like basic accommodations and have always been pleased with this hotel.
