The Des Lux is a beautiful hotel. Beds are comfy and spacious. The hotel bar is much better than most, craft cocktails. Lots of great dining/cocktail options within walking distance.

What an unexpected and remarkable hotel nestled in the middle of downtown Des Moines. The lobby is a little bit of European old world splendor with the amenities one expects from a top notch modern hotel. Front desk staff was efficient and polite. Restaurants in the area were pointed out along with parking instructions across the street. The room I was assigned had a fireplace, bar with sink, a full sized tufted leather couch a separate sitting area, and a large bathroom. A very comfortable bed made for a restful sleep. Wow! A spa and gym in the basement with his/her locker rooms. Breakfast was served with the usual offerings along with an espresso machine was a nice touch to highly enjoyable stay. This place will a definite stop for my next trip through town.

This was a super nice hotel close to many places downtown if you plan on walking anywhere. You could walk to the Farmers Market and Court Ave very easily. The room was very spacious. The only downfall was the air conditioning couldnt keep up since it was so hot outside the weekend we were there. But that is to be expected with older downtown buildings. We will definitely be staying there again!

This hotel is unique with only 51 rooms and a gem from the past. Great TLC has perserved the history of numerous paintings, wood interior and decorations. Amazing!

I will be back as I did not have enough time this trip. Lovely hotel with exceptional Everything. Rooms are gorgeous and beds are comfy, everything really nice and they think of everything. Parking is tricky, but expected since it is downtown and it is close & rate is reasonable. Room was beautiful and fireplace works. If you love older architecture, you will be as happy. It is a bit of everything. Beautiful and fun decor. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Highly Recommended!

Absolutely fabulous hotel to stay at on the west side of downtown! From the moment you walk in, the decor and friendliness of the staff makes you already feel you've found someplace special. The room was absolutely perfect in every way, as the attention to detail and the amenities made us appreciate every little detail. We stayed here because of the proximity to 4 different breweries downtown was only around 5 blocks for all of them. The hotel was one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at without having to spend twice as much money. Can't wait to return!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The room was spotless, spacious, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay - The bed was comfy, and the bathroom had nice, big towels and a great shower! The fridge was stocked with waters, sodas, wine, and champagne! The location was perfect—close to key attractions and dining options, yet peaceful enough to relax. Breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options. Additionally, the hotel’s decor was fun and eclectic.. not your boring run of the mill hotel. They have a martini bar, too! Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. I look forward to coming back!

This is my second time staying here for a comedy show, Matt Rife at Wells Fargo arena. Parked right across the street overnight for only $7. Walked to the arena super close and convenient. Jet tub is great! Bed is comfy. Staff is really nice!
