The Sonder is an affordable stay for travelers. The apartment was large, clean and comfortable. I found it to be entirely satisfactory and would recommend it for the comfort of the bed and the size of the space Entering the building requried a a keypad and people could enter after one another without any issue. In this respect, it is like a hotel or apartment building. The elevator was quick and responsive. The only complaint was the location. The Sonder is

Great value and downtown location. We parked the car across the street and we were able to walk everywhere from the stadiums to the riverfront and everywhere in between.

Loved the convenient location, well-stocked coffee bar, clean room. Wished we had parking or at least suggestions for parking. (We found pricey garage parking 9 minutes away) The outdoor building keypad was a bit touchy and took several tries to access inside (no problems with room keypad). The suite was sparse but clean and comfortable. A lot of street noise made sleeping difficult. Despite flaws we thought location was great for our purposes: night in Detroit and a Tigers game.

The property was conveniently located to food, transportation, and all area attractions from museums to sporting venues. With easy access to the airport shuttle, city mass transit, and high walkability, the property is a great find in the urban core. Due to its location, the exterior gets a lot of areas from boisterous passersby. Its convenience also means it's not a pristine as someplace further removed from foot traffic. My only complaint is that the unit (303) reeked of strong men's cologne, so much so I turned off the AC and aired the unit for my entire stay. The unit itself was large, well-appointed, and peaceful.

Not great for the cost.

It was just a shady place. There were people lurking around outside. I didn’t get my email so I was standing out on the street with my kids and a dying phone trying to figure out how to get into the building. Parking was costly and they double charged my card and had a deposit charge so I had very little to spend on my trip cause they messed up. Super unimpressed. Plus there was stuff on the walls in the bathroom like someone got makeup on the wall and no one cleaned it up.

Great location. Walkable to Ford Field, Tigers stadium, the River, food, CVS. Nightly parking across the street for $30/night. Our 1 bedroom apartment was modern, clean, plenty of space, high ceilings, wall of beautiful windows overlooking downtown. We would definitely stay here again.

This place is beautiful but a complete nightmare trying to prove inpaid for my room beforehand. Thank goodness i checked my email ahead of time to give myself time for the problem i had trying to get the code to check in. Being virtual is nice until you have a problem and there isn't anyone you can speak with.

Not a Sonder Fan

This stay option was new to me. I appreciated the amenities, however there were issues with the property just to name a few. When we arrived the water was shut off on our floor, and it was not communicated at check-in, it wasn’t until we went to the front desk where they told us it would be off for 30min. The rooms were not very clean and neither were the linens or towels. Getting a staff to bring towels was a huge challenge. We called prior to our arrival to ask about parking and after being on hold for 30minutes we were connected with an out of country automated service that was ready google options. I guess we didn’t pay for concierge, but there should be some on site support. Marriot hotels are usually so much better. I don’t anticipate using sonder homes again, traditional hotels are more my liking.
