Looking for a relaxing getaway with stunning waterfront views and all the comforts of home? Look no further than the Salty Texan, your private bayfront oasis in San Leon, Texas. This spacious 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom vacation rental boasts an open-concept living area perfect for family gatherings, a sparkling in-ground pool for cooling off on hot summer days, and a private fishing pier where you can try your luck catching your dinner.

Private Pool: This home features a private in-ground pool that is 6ft deep with a spacious lounge area and overlooks Galveston Bay.

WINTER TEXAN RATE: If you’re trying to escape to the Gulf Coast for the winter. Please ask us about our reduced monthly rates October 1 - March 1.

Pest Control: Due to the coastal environment, mosquitoes & seasonal pests may be present. Professional pest control treatments are performed monthly.

WIFI: Free high-speed WIFI is available throughout the home.

Cable: We provide Roku with access to Sling TV for live television channels. Guests are welcome to log into their own Amazon Prime, Netflix, or other streaming service apps as well.

Pet Policy: Up to 3 pets are welcome in our home with a $25 fee per pet. We ask that pets stay off all furniture, are cleaned up after in the yard, and aren't left alone inside the home unless in a crate or kennel. Please message us if you’re planning on bringing your furry friend!

Large Groups: We love hosting church groups and large family gatherings, however groups over the size of 16 guests must be approved prior to booking.

Parking: There is room for up to 5 cars in the driveway.

Party Policy: No parties are allowed at our home. Please look elsewhere if that is the intent of your trip.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations are subject to a 3% credit card processing fee.

Age Requirement: Guests must be 24+ to book.

Step inside the main floor and be greeted by an abundance of natural light that floods the open-concept living room, dining area, and kitchen. The living room is comfortably furnished with plenty of seating and a flat-screen TV for movie nights. The well-equipped kitchen features a large island with barstools, perfect for casual meals or enjoying a morning cup of coffee. This level also offers three bedrooms to comfortably sleep your group. One bedroom features a king-size bed and a twin bed, another has two queen-size beds, and the third offers a king-size bed with a full-size bunk bed set and a twin-size bunk bed set.

Head downstairs to the additional living space, complete with its own kitchenette and an arcade game to keep everyone entertained. This lower level also boasts two comfortable sofas that can be converted into full-size beds, providing additional sleeping arrangements for larger groups.

But the true star of the show is undoubtedly the backyard. Take a dip in the refreshing in-ground pool, soak up the sun on the spacious patio, or fire up the grill and enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner under the vast Texas sky. As the day winds down, relax by the fire pit at the water's edge and take in the breathtaking views of Galveston Bay. And for the fishing enthusiasts in your group, there's even a private fishing pier right off the backyard, perfect for casting a line and trying your luck.

House Rules:
- Guests must be 24+ to book the property.
- One-night stays must be approved.
- Groups larger than 16 need to be approved. We do not allow parties.
- Quiet hours are from 10pm-8am.
- Any damages to the house or property during your stay will result in a deduction or additional charge for the resulting repair/replacement cost.
- All pets must be approved by our team, stay off of all furniture, be cleaned up after in the yard, and not left alone inside the home unless in a kennel.
- No parking allowed on lawns, yards, empty grass lots or other neighbors’ driveways, even if their home appears unoccupied.
- Oversized vehicles/trailers are not permitted unless explicit approval has been received from our team.
- Do not turn the AC below 70 degrees. If you do, you will risk the AC unit freezing up, requiring it to thaw out which will result in the home getting extremely warm.
- Should an eviction occur due to breaking house rules (noise ordinance violations, excessive guests and/or vehicles beyond the agreed amount), there will be an $850 fine.
- The homeowner's routine pool maintenance cannot be rescheduled and is required for the health and safety of our guests. They will not need to access the home but will access the yard.
- No jumping or diving into the bay. Children must be supervised at all times.

I have rented mostly Galveston beach homes for 15 years and have had incredible stays. My stay at the Salty Texan was a living nightmare from beginning to end. It started w/BeachBox cheating me out of my extended stay because THEY did not process the last payment AFTER they said “I was all set”.We were invaded by German roaches and two other species of roaches all over the kitchen, crawling over our food while preparing it, dropping from the ceiling onto food on the stove, fleas and ants in all the beds biting/stinging us. The exterminator came on Friday and sprayed the baseboards but the roaches continued to come out of the wall outlets, sink and bathroom drains the entire stay. I killed 22 roaches on the floor Friday morning. I spent the majority of my stay killing roaches and preparing meals inside the refrigerator even after the exterminator left. We don’t have any pets. The exterminator promised to come back on Saturday at 9:00 am on Saturday to spray again. He never showed up.My son’s family left on Saturday because they & their small children had bites all over. This was a horrific never-ending unsanitary, uninhabitable experience, and I want to file for a refund from Beach Box. I’m attaching videos & photos and will gladly give you the full complete story but I’m almost out of characters. I’m seems I'm unable to attach videos here but please check my in inbox communications w/Beach Box. All they cared about was getting me out at 11:00 am Sunday. Never again!

The home is in bad shape, has bug issues on the main floor. The kitchen has bugs, you need to keep the light on so they do not over take the space. The 1st floor game room is full of mold, is a fisherman room and smells like it.The home needs a lot work and an easy cosmetic work will do it for renters to feel like they are getting a good home for the price. This is my 1st time renting via VRBO but with a Galveston Management company lie Beach box and the last time. The money is not worth for what you get. This is a one timer renter home, not a pride nice maintain home. I will never rent here ever again. I left the home clean as I found it with the exception of towels and bedding for 3 main beds. It was 4 older people trying to enjoy the fishing pier. That is also one more bad part, the pool is bad, needs repairs and the pier needs fixing to accommodate older people, maybe a hand rails and a bench. All over the home needs serious repairs. Overall a bad experience but now we know better. Also Sand Leaon area is not the best for vacations.

Would not recommend. The beds were uncomfortable and falling apart. This house also had roaches. I tried to get my money back so I could relocate to another house but company refused. This house is managed by property company. Avoid at all cost!!! We have been using VRBO for years and never had an issue until this house.

Bay house getaway

Pool and outdoor area was great for everyone. Property was clean upon arrival, except trash can on patio was very dirty with leftover food, which attracted ants. Also BBQ pit was very dirty. We did not use. House indoors had roaches and ants. Ants especially on kitchen counters.Bottom room had mold smell, only used bathroom.

TLC needed but still a good find

The house has potential, but it needs some TLC throughout the property. We discovered that it needs a pest spray on our first night when I noticed the floor in the kitchen moving. Additionally, there is a missing board on the dock. The owner is very responsive, and I'm sure that when this house was first built, it was truly amazing.

Beautiful views and much more

My high school astronomy club members and two chaperones and I stayed at this place during our spring break trip to Houston to see the space center and Galveston. Regarding location and traffic, it was perfect for where we needed to get to. Being able to see the constellations from the pier and the back yard was amazing, and the sunrises were beautiful! We did have some issues with damaged beds from previous renters, but the host got that cleared up right away. Communication was excellent. I would likely rent from them again.

Pleasant stay, property needs some TLC

My family stayed for the Thanksgiving holiday and we enjoyed our time. The patio and fire pit are great spaces to enjoy the water views, and we even so porpoises swimming in the bay one morning! The check in and out process was flawless and we were contacted to make sure that we were settled in alright.That said, we were disappointed that the property is rather worn down since the pictures were taken and the listing is no longer fully accurate. A section of the fence in the backyard has fallen into the grass, there is an occasional floor leak in the main floor toilet, and the ground level space has a strong musty smell from flooding and that bedroom is locked shut (inconsistent with the posting details). The oven/range also has controls that are failing. None of these things were huge issues for us, but could be for other guests. The owner/management needs to address maintenance or update the posting to provide accurate information.

The location of the house was great because the access to the water to fish. But some areas on the fishing dock were dangerous because some wood panels were missing. We weren’t able to use the sofa bed in room 2 because there weren’t extra blankets, and the room had a fridge that we couldn’t use because it would not work properly. The bed sheets and blankets were too thin and cold for the winter. If there were more info given before we came we could have brought what we needed from home. The kitchen microwave and vent did not work. The light in the second floor larger room did not work. If these things are improved we would love to come back. The house was nice overall and we spent a very happy time there.
