Shrapnel's Retreat; Charming, relaxing Timbermill Cottage getaway! Pet friendly.
Shrapnel's Retreat is a two-bedroom original 1939 timber Mill Worker's cottage located in the remnants of an old timber mill within the Southern Forests' timber and truffle country. The charm of the original Mill worker's cottage is amplified by the high ceilings, romantic wood fireplace and original wood-burning stove in dining room. Front and back verandahs are the perfect spot for relaxing. It's a great location for bird watching and often see emus and kangaroos pass by.
Beautiful cabin that was a home away from home, gorgeous scenery and active wild life.Brilliant space to bring your four legged friends and family to get away from every day stresses. The wife and I genuinely enjoyed our stay and will definitely be booking again. House was stocked brilliantly with all cleaning materials necessary and a lovely hearth fire to bring everyone together and take the chill out of the house.Shout out to our lovely host that answered all of our questions and didn't mind a later check out either.10/10 will be a recurring place for our family.
Loved your house.Everything you need for a great stay.Only thing you need are candles as power went out. No problem we found one and power not out for long.On the whole a great place.Thank you.
The cottage was cold and drafty. The heating did not work, no firewood was provided. No other means of heating. The host told us to buy firewood, 42 for 2 bags which lasted an afternoon and evening. The bbq was covered in mould. The village was peaceful, plenty of birds and wildlife.
Alyssia was excellent to deal with in booking Shrapnel's Retreat. The cottage was lovely. Clean and tidy. Had everything you needed in the kitchen. Shower nice and hot. Had a possum come to visit. Seen emus, kangaroos, blue wrens. The morning mist with birds chirping was heart warming. Plenty of blankets and quilts for those chilly nights. Will definitely return but must remember to bring plenty of wood for those chilly days and nights. The resident caretaker, Dan was very helpful and such a nice man. Overall a delightful stay.
We loved the property it is so nice to sit by the fire. The area is great for bike riding through the forests. We chose to cook all our meals and planned some great winter meals knowing the kitchen had plenty to offer.
