woodworkers cottage/retreat
*Note that this property no longer contains a hot tub* Custom very well built and freshly designed newer home with all the modern amenities located with in the city limits of Driggs. I am a custom woodworker and builder and designed and built this house. All of the woodwork, doors, cabinetry and much of the furniture was designed and built by me for this home. The finishes and general feel and space of this house is unique, warm and clean. House has great views and a deck from the second floor as well as wrap around covered porch on the first level. Located on a 1/4 acre in a quiet neighborhood a few blocks distance from city center where one can find numerous shops, restaurants and a grocery store. Trail heads accessing wilderness are as near as a 10 minute car drive. Grand Targhee ski and summer resort is a 20 minute drive and there is also a shuttle service available with a stop about a block and a half away. Driggs is an excellent location for visiting Teton Valley, Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Parks, Jackson Hole, Teton Village or South Western Montana as all are a beautiful car drive away!
Enjoyed our visit- nice place good location.Unfortunately, the heat had been off in the house so it was very cold when we arrived. We turned the downstairs unit heater on high and it took several hours to come up to a comfortable temperature; the baseboard heater in the loft did not work.
Beautiful 2 story home, with fantastic kitchen and wood finishes throughout.
Enjoyed our stay there and Joey was a nice as could be. Enjoy the area so much. Saw Yellowstone & The Teton National Parks.
My family of five adults had a great stay at the cabin, love the neighborhood, convenient to town. Craftsmanship of the house was wonderful, many nice touches. Great porch. Four of us slept wonderfully, but one of the beds is a kid size bed which needs an upgrade. Also would have been nice to have some extra bed pillows. Coffee was well equipped.
We arrived a lot later than expected on our first day thanks to a flat tire in middle of nowhere Montana, so being welcomed by an immaculate home with everything we needed clearly visible to us was a dream. We were able to check in and get all of our things inside without issue and spent time relaxing by admiring the handmade furniture and the cottage itself! The welcome book detailed how the owner had built it by hand and we went from room to room simply marveling in the skill it must have taken to do so. That, and the massive book collection that lined almost every wall. I wish I'd had more time so I could have just sat and read for days!
We had booked the location in Driggs because of the proximity to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone and were not disappointed at all. Getting to Grand Teton and back was easy, and Driggs itself is a lovely town that my friend and I both talked about wanting to come back to on our next visit as it was the perfect place to stay. Joey's home is close enough to main street to walk to many of the restaurants (The Royal Wolf was our fave) and shops, and he provided great recommendations for places to eat, as well as numbers for all local emergency services. My friend is a nurse and was happy to know that the local hospital was just down the street from us. The neighborhood was quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The only thing we had slight issue with was that it was so hot, but we can't blame climate change on a VRBO house, and once we reached out and asked, Joey directed us to where we could find fans that helped us cool down significantly.
The whole house is eco friendly and the drive there was picturesque when we did it during the daytime. We had to cut our visit short thanks to a change in our flight home, but if it's available next time we make our way back out west, we would definitely book here again!
Great little cabin. We were visiting family and the location was good. Plenty of room, well stocked and very clean. We would definitely stay there again.
The owner has done a good job of building this house. However, he has not finished and that created concern with the ladies. The area around the house was not inviting.
Easy location, Excellent home finishes and details
The home was very cozy and felt like it was built with love. Had everything you need in the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. If you use the cast iron pans, don't use soap, and bring some olive oil to season them. The fireplace is not for use but the heater works well. Plenty of books to read!
In a cool little town ( I was expecting the middle of nowhere but it was quiet and fine!) owner very responsive in helping with directions in finding the house in the dark without lights. Spacious- great porches and decks- everything you need in kitchen and bath - very comfy beds - about one hour from Jackson and Grand Tetons
We enjoyed a few nights in this place with some friends. Owner was very responsive online. Had everything we needed. Enjoyed scoping out the cabinetry and furniture. Some other reviews were helpful in managing expectations about the porch looking out on workshop/apartment, but it's still a nice porch! House felt private with nice trees. The entire upstairs is the master bedroom which is great, but the stairway is open, so it's not completely private from the downstairs, but not an issue. Ten minute easy walk to town center was nice. Driggs is a special place!
This was a nice place to stay but the front porch looks right into a workshop/ garage building. Picture does not represent the location at all. But once inside the place was very comfortable and clean
Nice cabin. Lots of room upstairs. The bed upstairs was very comfortable! Kind of confusing with the location because it's tucked behind another house and next to the wood shop. And, the yard was kind of overgrown. Other than that it had everything we needed and the neighborhood was quiet and safe.
Great cabin. Clean, everything in working order. Wonderful location to Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, and other fun activities. Owner was easy to work with.
This is a great cabin to stay at with a small group. It's located in a small suburb in Driggs, ID. The latter has everything you could need during your stay (grocery stores, outdoor supply store, a few restaurants, coffee shops, etc). The cabin itself is well-kept, clean, and spacious enough that everyone is not tripping over each other. The second floor has a large open area with two beds and a sizeable bathroom. The first floor has one bedroom and bathroom, as well as a living area and a kitchen. There is also a nice large porch and backyard. Great to use as a base, and drive out to see the sights during the day. The drive to Grand Teton National Park is about 1 hour (depending on the entrance you use). You can also drive about 25 minutes east to hike Table Mountain, accessing the Tetons from the west side rather than looping around and accessing the park from the south. The only small downside was that the hot tub was out of commission during our stay.
