17th Century Holiday cottage with hot tub and sea views in Dyffryn Ardudwy Snowdonia | Y-Felin
Y Felin, 17th Century Holiday cottage with sea views in Dyffryn Ardudwy Snowdonia, is half way between Harlech and Barmouth on the Cambrian Coast road. A short grassy drive leads up to a private but sunny garden. (It never rains in Wales, honest!) Slate stepping stones guide you to the front door of this beautiful, typically asymmetrical, 17th century stone cottage.
Open the door of this holiday cottage Dyffryn Ardudwy and step onto the warm slates which cover the ground floor. (This under floor heating is a marvellous thing) Modern facilities, dishwasher, washing machine etc are combined with original features like the ledged and braced doors and exposed beams.
There's a cosy lounge complete with obligatory inglenook or âsimne fawr' with cast iron log burner. Perfect for those romantic evenings cuddled up together on the couch. Upstairs there's a modern bathroom where the complete with ceramic bath and power-shower and there's a nice view of the cows from the bath if you leave the curtains open. The two bedrooms are nicely furnished and all the linen was crisp and clean.
Both bedrooms have window seats overlooking the coastline about half a mile away. One disadvantage of this period property however was the painfully low doors. But I learnt to duck by about the third day. In front of the house some old barns and stone walls combine to provide a private and secluded courtyard type garden complete with wood fired two man hot tub. (These real fire hot tubs to take a while to warm up. Patience and some fire building skills are needed.) The cottage owners also have a 4 acre field to the front of the property. Guests are more than welcome to throw a ball for their dogs in the field.
Beautiful cottage, stunning location and perfect if you have a dog. We spent Christmas in the cottage and it was a lovely change. Hot tub is beautiful and log fire was well used by hubby. Great location for walks with beautiful scenery, A lovely welcome from Louise with a little note with fresh eggs, bottle of prosecco and some home made lemon drizzle cake! Thank you! Wifi is great too!
We have stayed in many cottages along the Cambrian Coastline, but this is by far our favourite. Cottage is just beautiful, location is amazing with views from the garden and upstairs windows our son is train obsessed so he could watch the passing trains from his room even if raining.Close to local amenities, beach, caravan club house etc. Will 100% be rebooking.
Very nice cottage with a beautiful garden that gets fantastic sun in the evening all the way to sunset, which you can see. We loved the wood fired hot tub. Note there is another cottage right next to the garden which you canât see on pictures so itâs not as secluded as we expected but still offers privacy. We didnât find the double bed very comfortable but that was the only negative for us. Itâs well equipped and fantastically located to visit Snowdonia. Internet was great to have too. We also thought it was great value for a stay during the school holidays. Would recommend!
