The hotel is in a fantastic location, close to everything we wanted to visit during our stay. We were in a city room and it was huge, more than enough space for two adults for three nights. The only issue was there were some steps directly outside our room (838) which were very creaky every time someone stepped on them which would wake us up, luckily most people seemed to be back in their rooms quite early. It would also be useful if the lockers in the spa could be operated with the room key, we didn’t have any pound coins on us so couldn’t use the lockers. The staff were very friendly and attentive and our room was spotless. I was also very happy to see the NZ made toiletries in the bathroom - we recently came back from a trip there and remembered using the same ones, a lovely unexpected nostalgic touch!

Great welcoming reception from Sarah other receptionist throughout my stay, and all the staff at the bar. The rooms were spotless clean, very comfortable. Definitely welcoming birthday surprise, which, I loved the attention to detail. My only concern was that the room was very hot at night, and I did call to get it checked out by maintenance, but there was no accommodations for it. But, I loved the location, nice staff, I’ll be back again.

We arrived adter a bit of a nightmare journey with trains cancelled and local snow as we left. We managed to re-route and got to the hotel tired and cold to be told our room was already available and to head straight up to get warm. The room was lovely. We booked a super king sized room for a bit of extra space for the 3 night stay. The huge bath tub was a bonus to soak in after a long day walking in wintry weather. The antipodes toiletries were lovely. Location of the hotel is spot on. Everything is within walking distance. I'd recommend the society bar and kitchen a few doors down for brunch or tea but make sure you book ahead as they regularly have queues outside. The pool was cold but the sauna and steam room were lovely. Only small gripe was towels weren't changed when requested but we found some fresh so not a huge deal. We would definitely stay here again. Luggage room used on check out was useful although slightly manic trying to locate luggage in there. All in all a pleasant stay.

We were a group of 4 40-50 year old women on a weekend get away. Positives: Hotel in great location in the heart of the city. In walking distance from the train station, shops, bars and restaurants. Our room was a good size, very clean and the beds were comfortable. Nice toiletries supplied. Negatives: Issue initially with room allocation as we had 2 rooms on different floors (this was resolved). 1 room had a wet room bathroom which didn’t drain properly so we were left with standing water. The pool was cold and some of the spa jets were not working. We had to bring our towels from the room to use as they had run out. Don’t rely on booking the bar area on the website - We were told by staff that they didn’t get to see the bookings so there was no table reserved for us! Overall: great hotel for location, wouldn’t recommend if you’re wanting to relax in the pool area.
