There's a snack bar/deli on site. Free breakfast is available daily. Public spaces have free WiFi. A vending machine, ski storage, and tour/ticket assistance are also featured at Hotel Lago del Desierto. Self parking is free.
Sorry to say but this hotel is way past its prime. Rooms are cramped an outdated and look like a throwback to 1975. The staff is trying to make up for it by being really nice, but this cannot hide the fact that the owners obviously didn't invest anything in upkeep for years. Even as a "budget" solution it is not quite acceptable.
Staff was friendly and the place is cute. The beds were comfy. Itâs more like a bed and breakfast. We planned an early start for a day hike and needed to pack some lunch for the trails. There was no fridge in the room and they didnât offer any place for guest storage. Luckily we rented a car and it was cold overnight, so we kept our lunch in the car outside.
The staff at the hotel is great and make you feel great about your stay. Unfortunately the rooms need to be renovated or updated. Again, the stuff is great but that is it.
Regretfully our experience with the facilities was not great at all and if we had the opportunity to go back to El chalten, this is NOT a hotel we would stay at. For the price you pay, I would expect to get a bit more specially this being a hotel and not a hostel.
Very charming and quiet rustic hotel with amazingly friendly staff! Room was warm and bright. Ample parking. Prime location. Breakfast included hot milk which made the drinks more delicious.
Staff amazing and helpful, clean, comfortable, quiet.
Roomâs curtains need to be blackout to block bright street light.
Wonderful view of El Chalten peaks mountain from back window room.
Very old fashioned room, the bathroom needed a renovation. The heating system was really good,m for peak winter stays, there is a small gas heating system in each room but for some reason it was impossible to turn off in my room and it was not that pleasant with 15 degrees outside. No daily cleaning services.
Overall I saw very small care for the clients, being lactose intolerant I have asked if the breakfast includes dairy free alternatives as soon I checked in. The day after the indicated me some milk as lactose free when in reality it was just standard milk, just after starting drinking it a realized it when I had already ingested some. They actually had some almond milk in the kitchen that they showed up later on my complaints. No possibility to do breakfast box in a place where most of the people go to hike before 7am.
The reception staff speak good English and they do their best but they don't really have any local knowledge.
Very cute hotel with very easy access from the bus station in el Chalten. Close to several restaurants and amenities and with a very attentive and personal touch from the staff.
Nice little room a bit to renovate but with a charming touch. We enjoyed our stay.
Nos ha encantado el trato recibido por Dario, Francisco, y las chicas del servicio de limpieza y desayunos ,nos hemos sentido como en casa.
El lugar muy bonito , muy accesible a todo.
We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed it very much! Wonderful staff and ambience! Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. We had a tour that missed picking us up and they called them and made alternate arrangements.
Rooms were good size and very clean. Would stay here again!
The bed was comfortable and the place was warm.
The breakfast was very basic and bland. We had a view of bins out the window. The room door was loose so banged all night due to strong winds. The staff demand that you give your key to reception whenever you leave the building, but then hang the keys behind the reception (which is sometimes unattended) which didnÂŽt feel very secure. There are a lot of rules considering it is a hotel for customers and not a school for children. The most expensive place we stayed in in Patagonia and not worth it compared to other properties.
