On the lake AND in Downtown Eufaula
On the lake AND in the heart of Downtown Eufaula. Walk to shops, dining and the Yoholo Micco Trail from this great location. This historic home was built in 1882 and served as Eufaula's original town jail prior to its restoration as a city park and now a residential home. Eufaula's "Old Town Jail" is currently listed on the national register of historic places and is one of many historic structures in the town of Eufaula. Beautifully restored and renovated, the home still contains its original features, but includes all the modern amenities and comforts. You will not find a more fascinating and charming home than this, and the location can't be beat! Two bedrooms and 1 bath with 1200 sq feet of living space. Several boat launches located within minutes, and plenty of room to park your vehicles and boat. Dogs are welcome with a $50 non-refundable pet fee. Providence Canyon, AKA the Little Grand Canyon of Georgia is approx 20 miles away.
Beautiful place, but, there was a couple of things that concerned me a little. The bedrooms were closest to the front door (the solid jail door) and owner prefers that you do not try to open it. If there was ever a fire it would be very tricky getting out. Second, not a good place for small children unless a partial chain link fence was put up at the bluff
We came to Eufaula to hike Providence Canyon. Not knowing anything about the area, I think we hit the jackpot when I chose this house. Traveling with my family which includes two 20 something sons. This old jail looks impressive from outside and is even more impressive from the inside. Beautifully decorated and super comfortable. We also checked out the local history of Eufaula. Great little gem!
Property clean, relaxing and very quiet area Enjoyed the great view of the river from the patio/deck. Free wi-fi. Located on the Alabama- Georgia line. Communication with owner was great.
The overall stay was really nice. It had a fairly beautiful scenery. It was great that it was close to town and activities.coffee, towels, dishes, and towels ready and available. We were a little disappointed that we were more on a cliff and had not access to the water from the actual location. The trees and plants need to be cut back some. They were overgrown and were hanging on my car and in our faces. It took forever for the house to cool down. It still stayed hot in the back bedroom, even with the fans that were provided.
Had the best time! The house has everything you need and the location is great. Views of the Chattahoochee at night and in the morning were the perfect start and end to our days. The location is perfectly to explore all that Eufaula has to offer. Highly recommend hiking Providence Canyon in GA while youâre there! We hope to be back.
The place is great from the history to the decor. Everything is thoughtfully laid out for a great experience. Wished we could have stayed longer. The view of the lake is incredible and we will most definitely be back. Thank you for the awesome experience.
Loved this property, was actually bigger than I anticipated. Views from property out to the lake are beautiful. Walkable distance to downtown & trails. Loved it was pet friendly. The only thing I would suggest, which is minor, is screening in the patio area.
This property was amazing. Close to Providence Canyon State Park that we were there to visit. Eufaula has a cute downtown area to also visit and beautiful old homes!! Lots of history. Would definitely stay here again if ever in the area and recommend this property for a unique experience!!! On the water with a beautiful view!!!
Should have researched better and asked more questions, bike trail was closed, purpose of trip to ride are new electric bikes.house needs a good cleaning. Hwy traffic is non stop and very annoying. High back kitchen chairs not good for seniors, only one swiveled. One AC was broken, they did provide fans .the lake view and weather was great.
We loved the charm and uniqueness of the property. The close proximity to restaurants, boutiques and coffee/ice cream shops was also a plus. The property manager was very responsive answering questions in advance and during our stay. We will definitely book again if we travel through the area.
Our family of 4 had a great time! The historic house has old charm with new amenities (upgraded HVAC, instahot, new appliances, etc). The Yoholo Micco walking trail and downtown area is within a reasonable walking distance. Beautiful view of the lake and we ate dinner on the porch every night.
