Cozy home on the water with plenty of sleep space
Beautiful water front view from the kitchen/dining room and master bedroom! BBQ area and outside seating to watch the sunset! Plenty of sleeping room for a bigger family or for two families to share. Outside of the city center for a relaxing vacation on the water. Boats can be rented and taken out to the river and gulf.
I understand we weren't buying the place but there were some issues with the listing and the house in general. First the listing. 7 nights 6 adults only supplied with 4 towels, 0 washcloths, 0 kitchen towels. No hot tub/whirlpool. Ice maker does not work. No kayak/canoe.
Now for the condition of the house. Left sink in master bath took a long time to drain. Brackets holding curtains above sliding glass door falling off.(safety issue?) Dishwasher not mounted to cabinets. It would slide out of the opening and tip over when you try to open the door. It did work though. Kitchen faucet had very low pressure and was loosely mounted to sink. Could only use the hot water because when the cold side was used it flooded the cabinet below. Sugar ants(crazy ants) throughout the house(kitchen and baths). Had to make sure all foods were put in the fridge. There were 5 coffee cups of which 2 of them had significant chips missing where they were unusable. There was 1 dying roach in the house each of the last 3 mornings. 2nd bath vanity not secured to wall. Floor coming up front bedroom.
Location was perfect. Got to see some really nice boats pass by on the canal. Also, the neighbors to the south(Jim and Deb) were absolutely fabulous. They let us borrow a corkscrew and even invited us to a Mardi Gras party.
In the owner/manager's defense, we decided not to contact them only because the house needs quite a bit TLC and we didn't want repairs done during our visit. House should have been ready.
