Big Bear Lodge and Resort is minutes from the Parkway and built on a quiet peaceful bluff overlooking Pigeon Forge. Our 1,500 square foot duplex cabin is a great Smoky Mountain getaway not far from a variety of attractions including: the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Dollywood Theme Park, the Titanic exhibit and the Carl Ripkin Experince . Also choose activities from white water rafting to a Zipline adventure. Step out nearby to a large selection of restaurants, outlet shopping malls including “5 Oaks”; a huge mall with 100’s of stores only minutes from the cabin. We are also just a half mile from the Wear Farm City Park. At the park is baseball/softball fields, playground and walkway. Many softball tournaments are schedule for the park. You can walk from the cabin to the park if you desire. We are also minutes from the Island in Pigeon Forges. One of the newest attractions with great restaurants and activities for all ages.
In January 2018 , we completed major improvements to Bears’ Retreat. This included: new leather sleeper sofa and side chair in the living room and as well as a leather love seat in the loft. In addition the kitchen was updated with granite counter tops and a new sink, faucet and disposal. New bedding was added to both beds and sleeper sofas and an elegant duvet was added in the master bedroom. We also switched cleaning companies and now work with one person who only cleans a few highly rated cabins in Pigeon Forge.
In January of 2020, we continued to make major improvement to the cabin. This included: New deck and deck furniture off the master bedroom; new patio furniture and grill on the lower level patio; new stainless steel kitchen appliances and new roof.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find three levels that are more like home than anyplace you’ve ever stayed: the main level, the second floor and the lower level walkout apartment or Studio Suite. On each level, we’ve added decorating touches throughout that you rarely find in any other vacation property. As an example, we’ve included classic fine art prints and local artist renditions of this beautiful location. We’ve also added lots of pillows, stuffed bears, and cozy throws. This cabin also features hardwood floors and leather furniture. Parking is available on both the main and lower levels of the cabin.
On the main level, relax near the huge stone fireplace with its nearby new 50 inch flat screen TV housed in an armoire. For larger groups, the leather couch folds out into a queen size bed. In the full kitchen, you’ll find everything you need to prepare a delicious home cooked meal, or you may opt to grill something on the large lower-level Studio Suite deck. Either way, you’ll be able to recharge your energies and enjoy being in the uniquely beautiful area of East Tennessee.
Just off the kitchen, you can enjoy a four person hot tub set in a large screened in porch. Enjoy the night air wafting through the screens while relaxing in the hot soothing water. A large half bathroom, along with a full size washer and dryer, is also located on this level.
On the second level, at the top of the stairs you will find a loft sitting area just outside the private master bedroom suite. This vaulted space overlooks the main floor and includes a love seat. You’ll also find a large computer desk, books, reference materials, excellent lighting and a CD player.
Pass through the loft and you’ll be amazed at the size of the master bedroom suite with full bathroom and balcony. Each day you can view the beautiful Smoky Mountains from this suite. This newly rebuilt balcony is perfect location for your morning coffee. The king size bed has multiple pillows, a coverlet and many throws should you need them. Relax with your own media choices by taking advantage of your own TV/DVD in this suite. Large chests of drawers are available for all your belongings.
The lower level Studio Suite is a separate apartment that is ideal when a larger group of travelers chooses Bears Retreat. This living space is perfect for another couple or children and comes equipped with a kitchenette that includes a microwave, coffee maker, sink and mini refrigerator. A recently added Foosball table means fun for all! This level is accessed by a convenient stairway to the main living area and, if desired, a private outdoor entrance. This Studio Suite also opens to a large deck with new gas grill and patio seating for four. You and your family or friends will love the extra space and tasteful décor of this Studio Suite that includes pictures and paintings of Smoky Mountain areas such as Cades Cove.
In this second living area, you’ll find another large stone gas fireplace. You can relax with a flat screen TV above the mantel. The burgundy leather couch opens into a queen size bed. Amenities include a full-size bathroom with shower and a soaking tub! The private bedroom in this suite includes a TV and CD player.

We have been to Pigeon Forge for lots of classic car shows but this is the first time we've rented a cabin. The property owners are super nice and messaged back quickly! The home is clean and adorable with lots of space. This home was perfect for us as a couple traveling with our teenager. We will absolutely be back!!

This cute cabin is tucked away from the busy city of Pigeon Forge, but close enough to all attractions. The size of house was perfect and provided a wonderful morning view of the mountains from the master bedroom on the top floor.

Property really needs a deep clean. Bed still had dog hair on it from the last guest and looked like blood on the pillow. Washer has black mold growing in it and master bed was caved in from a poor fix someone attempted. Had to sleep on the floor the first night and left a day early. Owners were nice but I’m assuming they don’t visit often because whoever they hire to clean and manage the place is doing a poor job

The cabin was nice and roomy. It claimed to sleep 10 but only had 2 queen beds & 2 sleeper sofas which was suitable for our party of 4 and a baby. The hot tub was out of chlorine so we did not use it. We were really only there to sleep and it was satisfactory for our needs. Beware though, we were there over two weeks ago and the host is just now claiming that we clogged the garbage disposal and is charging 150. This is a false claim. We literally ate out every meal & I cannot imagine what it even takes to clog a garbage disposal. Certainly not beverages and baby formula….

The cabin needs attention. The jacuzzi tub didn't work. The wallpaper was torn and hanging. The garbage disposal was not working and there was food in it and the water backed up causing food to come up in the sink which drained very slowly.

We absolutely loved our stay at Bear Retreat! The cabin’s location in Pigeon Forge was perfect, making it easy to enjoy everything the area has to offer. The amenities were fantastic—from relaxing in the hot tub to having access to the gym. Everything was spotless, and the multi-level layout gave our family plenty of space to spread out and unwind comfortably. The kitchen was fully stocked, and the full-size washer and dryer were a wonderful bonus. We would definitely love to stay here again!

We had a great time at this Cabin. It's very homey and well equipped. You are close to the indoor pool and hot tub. Plus you have your own hot tub. It had a cute Christmas tree at the fire place. It was clean and had wonderful beds. We had no issues at all with this cabin. The hosts were quick to respond and super kind and helpful. You are far enough away from the action of the parkway to relax, but close enough to enjoy at moments notice. Definitely check this cabin out! We look forward.to a future stay here.

Very responsive hosts. Had a problem with the hot tub and garbage disposal, but maintenance staff showed up very quickly to repair. This was our 2nd time staying here. Last time was in 2021. Unit is clean and has everything you need, but it showed some age since the last time we were here (missing cabinet handles, torn wall paper, etc.).

This unit was spacious and well appointed, and the location was perfect! We enjoyed the fuse ball table in the basement. However, the space could definitely use a deep cleaning & some handyman work. There are pet stains on the carpets, a mild odor throughout the house, and there were lots of dead ladybugs in several areas. The bedspreads & pillow shams had not been washed before our stay, and there was dust on the blinds and fixtures. The kitchen cabinet hardware also needs to be replaced, as the knobs kept falling off. There was always peeling wallpaper in the bathroom. The windows/screens in the hot tub room held many cobwebs, dust, & bugs. These were things that didn’t bother us too much because we only stayed a couple nights, but I’m not sure we’d have an extended stay in its current condition.

The cabin was very nice I didn’t realize when I booked that the bed rooms where on the lower and upper levels which made it hard for my mom to get up or down to the bedrooms but that was my fault for not thoroughly reading the description. We did have a little issue with the hot tub but it was quickly and easily resolved by the cleaning and maintenance crew. We would definitely stay there again just maybe a different cabin. Thanks
