I have always stayed in Geneva Hostel and the staff appears to do strive to ensure that the needs of occupants are met to their best ability and availability. More could also be done in making sure customer service comes with a smile..That alone could change the world.

This hostel did the job as a safe, clean place to sleep for the night but I wouldn’t book again based on the vibe. It had a quiet, clinical atmosphere like purgatory that made it feel weird to talk to other people. The common areas were sort of spread out and fragmented, and the main area to spend time outside your room had the air of a very quiet airport gate, with spread out seating and fluorescent lights. They also have you make your own bed (in my case an upper bunkbed) which was unfortunate because I got in at 1am and others were already asleep in my room. Might be worth it if you’re going to save a lot of money.

staff was extremely unfriendly, except one woman who was on the younger side. the lobby is way nicer than the actual rooms. there are no curtains or fans within the room. the location of the hostel is also not great for the money. the hostel was $20 usd more expensive than the nicer hostel that i stayed in during my stay in paris. the vending machines only really have candy, which is unhelpful for late nights or early mornings. overall, i would say it was mediocre at best and would not necessarily recommend.

My friend and I had a lovely 2-night stay at Geneva Hostel. The rooms were clean, the toilets and showers were clean and had great privacy. I felt extremely comfortable staying here. The rooms were small but with the external lockers and bathroom we didn’t need any more space. Also it was 3 CHF (per person) to rent a locker for your luggage after you’ve checked out, which is a very fair price. The only note I have is the staff can be rigid at times and aren’t clear on expectations. It seemed a lot of people staying at the hostel were unclear that dirty sheets needed to be brought downstairs when checking out. Additionally, I was told you could change out your rented towel as many times as you’d like so I wanted to get a fresh towel for my second night and was sternly told this was not the case. The man gave me a new towel anyways but it was an uncomfortable interaction.

This was my 1st stay in a hostel in 33 years and I was very impressed with the facilities, the helpfulness of the staff and the quality of everything in our room and the free breakfast. We had a twin room which had the benefit of a balcony with seating and a fabulous view towards the lake. Bedding and towels were provided. My only criticism of the whole experience would be that the room was quite hot, although a helpful large fan was provided. I would certainly recommend the hostel, the staff and the free transport card to anyone wanting to stay in Geneva and not spend a fortune (this looked much nicer than more expensive but very basic hotel rooms).
