Lovely hotel and staff but just one minor gripe.

We used this hotel as a stopover from the north west on the way to Cornwall. The hotel is lovely, old fashioned but fairly modern . The grounds are pleasant and the staff were friendly. Food was also good. EV chargers were a welcome bonus and worked well and weren’t overly expensive. My only gripe was that it was exceedingly hot when we were there and the hotel didn’t have air conditioning. I understand that in an older hotel but when I asked for a fan, I was told that someone had decided to take them all apart to clean them…..on one of the hottest days of the year. I just thought it wasn’t good planning on someone’s part.

Very pleased with our last minute booking. Friendly , relaxed atmosphere. Excellent staff in all areas. Clean and well organised. Food in the restaurant better than most external restaurants. Being vegan/veggie it was really nice to have a decent meal.

Used to stay here a while back, and loved it. However, something has changed, and unfortunately it has let itself go a little. Menu options have decreased and just hasn't got the same vibe off the staff. Whether they are cutting costs, they need to change it back as it was!

The room was OK abit small with no view. The first night was OK, slept well, the 2nd night was terrible, a massive party, lots of people making it'crowded' I like Coldplay but not when played full blast at midnight when I'm trying to sleep. I shut the windows but that made the room too hot. I asked for ear plugs but they weren't available. The room walls were paper thin so a retiring guest turned his TV on loud, then snored. By 2am I was exhausted and despairing. I asked the night porter for the TV to be turned down, which happened. I couldn't wait to leave. The grounds are beautiful. The staff polite. No lift. If they are going to host large parties they need to consider the guests who aren't part of the celebration and offer rooms away from the celebration to act as a buffer zone from the noise or provide ear plugs and an apology

There was a limited bar menu in that some items were unavailable and took a long time to arrive.Slow clearing of dirty dishes.Staff had to be asked to clear the table.Food in restaurant was just average.Rooms were clean and staff friendly.

Lovely mini break away

We had a fantastic mini break. Room was lovely. Staff were really friendly. Breakfast was tasty. Spa was a real highlight, beautiful and not too crowded. Will definitely be back!
