The Alluvian

The Alluvian is a nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast buffet is included and was good. We ate at the restaurant which was pretty good and went to the spa ( across the street) and the Viking cooking school (also across the street). Besides this hotel and amenities there is nothing much in the area.

Alluvian- Viking Experience

This was an anniversary trip with the Viking Cooking School as the primary reason. The school was a great experience and we will certainly do this again. At the hotel we had a nice large corner room with plenty of windows. It was very cold outside. We could never get inside room temperature comfortable. The large bathroom had marble floors. The marble floors were so cold we had to place towels on the floor where we walked. We were out of the room for the second day, but never had room clean-up service. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant - Gardina's. The wait staff mis-ordered my oyster appetizer and my wife's salad. I ordered a NY strip steak, only for the waitress to return to say they were out of strip steaks. We ordered brussel sprouts as a side vegetable. We were expecting an upscale sprouts dish, but the sprouts were steamed beyond repair with additional butter.

Unexpected luxury in a small Mississippi town.

This was a midweek stay but there were plenty of guests and the service was great. Excellent restaurant next door to the hotel so no moving the car. Nice walking street with cute shops. Greenwood has several good restaurants and the town is pleasant.
