This historical stone farm house, almost 200 years old located in heart of Istria, was enthusiastically renovated with great style and thought on bringing the beauty of landscape and historical wisdom of locals closer to you. With meticulous interior design, private garden, communal swimming pool and picnic area, it's the perfect place for relaxation, away from crowded beaches, with great potential for exploring the cultural heritage and gastronomic perfections of Istria's inland. THE SPACE

It took quite some time and lots of effort to rebuilt this house and preserve its authentic style. Like all the precious gems, it needed lots of fine grinding and careful polishing to fully shine. Today this beautiful residence shines in all it's beauty. Still full of nostalgic memories and local stories, but offers you the commodity of modern spaces to relax and enjoy your vacation.


ARRANGEMENT

Salty Skin - Apt. 2 - is the smallest of 5 apartments in the building. It's 40m2 large and comprises:

Ground floor (living area with kitchen and dinning table, half bathroom under stairs),
• Private garden with patio on the front side and 1st floor (bedroom with double bed and bathroom with shower).

You can enjoy your private garden in the front yard or hit back to large backyard communal space with swimming pool (58m 2), barbecue & lounge area for picnics and leisure sports. There is also private parking on the property.


LOCATION

The property is located in the heart of Istria, with typical Mediterranean climate. There are beautiful hike and bike trails in the vicinity, a well known picturesque Parenzana route among many others. There are also some very good climbing spots in the region, with perfect rock for all levels. If prefer exploring cultural heritage of the Istria, there are many ancient picturesque towns in close vicinity: Groznjan (Grisignana), Motovun, Oprtalj, Livade and Hum - the smallest city of the world! On top of all that Istria is well known for it's distinctive and delicious cuisine, best known for home made pastas, truffles, cheeses, olive oil and great vines. So there is a lot to explore and experience in Istria!

Aquileia Residence is perfect place for you. Away from crowded beaches you can relax, read a book by the pool in peaceful landscape of Istria's nature or have an active vacation and go jogging, hiking, biking and exploring rich cultural heritage of the nearby cities, while spoiling your taste buds with delicacies of the region.


GUEST ACCESS

The residence is located in small settlement of Martinčići, surrounded by peaceful nature and some of the most picturesque and culturally rich cities of Istria. You can enjoy and relax in the sounds of the nature or go around exploring cities or searching for an adventure hiking, biking, rock climbing, driving with quad bikes etc. It's a perfect place to enjoy nature, outdoors, cultural heritage and delicious local cuisine.


EARLY CHECKIN - LATE CHECKOUT

Only applicable when arranged min. 7 days before your arrival. Must contact me in advance if you'd like to use this option!

For the early birds coming to town before 16:00 I can arrange an early luggage drop off, so you can leave your luggage secured and start exploring the area immediately on your arrival.

For late out birds, leaving after 10:00 I can arrange a late luggage pickup, so you can leave your luggage secured and enjoy the easy stroll through the country until your departure.


LATE NIGHT ARRIVALS

Late arrivals are not a problem, just let me know in advance! You have to contact me a few days before your arrival.

I'll try to do my best to help you as much as I can, but can't guarantee you anything outside the scheduled times.


GUEST INTERACTION

I will organize your stay and make sure you get all the information necessary for a stress free vacation. I'll be promptly available for all your questions and provide with all the additional info for a memorable stay.

On the property, you will be greeted by Tajana or her husband Marko, the local couple who manages the place and knows all the best things to show you around. They will make sure you get everything necessary and experience the Istria you've dreamed of.


OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

You have free WiFi, communal pool and large green area to enjoy!

There is a security deposit that will be reserved on your credit card. The deposit is returned to you 48h after your check-out. Apartment has all the amenities you need, including coffee machine, fireplace and mini bar.

Due to local laws, you have to send me a copy of your ID / passport documents with picture, name, surname, date of birth, country and document's number, so I can send the data to police and tourist office. The copy of legal documents is mandatory for all guests visiting Croatia. You have to send me a valid copy of your documents with all the necessary data before your arrival, otherwise I'll have to cancel your reservation!

Tourist tax is included in price.


NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW

The residence is located in a peaceful area in close vicinity to ancient settlement Groznjan (Grisignana). It's the only Croatian settlement to have ethnic Italian majority. Groznjan is known as "the city of artists" - there are many small galleries all over the town. In summertime there are open-air jazz concerts. There is a great film festival in Motovun every year, with a vibrant crowd, that is not to be missed.

For those who are looking for more active vacations, there are many biking and hiking routes all around! The well known Parenzana trail is in close vicinity. Parenzana is a defunct narrow gauge railway between Trieste and Porec. It offers more than 123 km of beautiful views! The railway starts in Trieste. After crossing Dragonja river it entered Croatia. Then it turned to Savudrija and towards the Istrian interior. It passed Buje, climbed to Groznjan, where it reached its highest point at elevation of 293 meters above sea level, before starting to descend to Livade (13m above sea level) where it crossed the Mirna river. Then it started climbing again via Motovun and Vizinada where it reached another local extreme at 273 meters. From there it starts to descend gradually, passing Visnjan and reaching Porec after 123 km.


GETTING AROUND

Best way to explore the central Istria is by car or by bike. You can rent bikes in the nearby cities or let us know ahead to arrange it for you.

Trieste is 46.7 km from the residence, while Portorož is 22. 5 km from the property. The nearest airport is Pula Airport 85.3 km away.
