First time at The Cairn, booked a family room it was tidy and clean, just wish I'd had a double not a single bed which i thought was in the room when booked, not much of a view tired paint chipped walls, could do with some attention as its all you look out at, but the staff that we spoke to were very friendly n accommodating i would book again as its close to family members that live in Harrogate.

A short break

When we arrived arrived we were a little early for check-in so i went to reception and asked if we could leave the car there for a little while. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and let us leave the car there. When we cane to check-in, he was very informative about our nextcday plans and told the best route to get there. Having a lift was a great asset as we had many suitcases and a pram. The room was very clean, they had provided a cot for the little one. The bathroom was also very clean and had toiletries in too. We found it very warm in the room as the windows only opened slightly, but it was a hot couple of days. We all slept well, the beds were comfy, i was very happy as the room we were given had a separate smaller room with a bed in it and i was able to escape the yonger ones. We didnt have breakfast there but what we saw looked very nice. The reception area was very comfy with plenty af areas to sit. All staff were very friendly and had time to have a chat with you. Will definitely come back again

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel,it was handy for walking into Harrogate town centre. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and had a bath and shower. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The hotel has plenty of communal areas to enjoy sitting in or outside as well there are lovely gardens to sit in.

Solid hotel and for the most part comfortable, however, the function room has little (if any) soundproofing, meaning the rooms above get very noisy (I think we were right above the PA system and things were vibrating in our room). The show went on until 11pm. More soundproofing needed.

The property requires a significant investment. I was put into a room that hadn't been touched for 20 years, ancient and dirty-looking. The carpet was so dirty-looking, I didn't take my shoes off. The paintwork hadn't been touched in decades. Very disappointed in general. The outside was lovely, and it's a grand old hotel that needs some love and care.

Harrogate.

The hotel is a lovely big old fashioned building about a quarter of a mile from Harrogate's town centre. It has ample free parking, and on entering the foyer, we were very impressed with its grandeur. Check in was straight forward and the receptionist was very polite and helpful, as were the other members of staff we encountered. There is a lift. The room itself was of a fair size with everything you would expect i.e TV, tea and cofee making facilities, storage and toiletries etc. However, the room was very tired with the wallpaper peeling in places, scuff marks on the walls and skirting boards and squeeky floorboards in our room and in the room above. As we appreciate, this is a very old building, but the rooms could definitely do with a make over. The bed was really comfortable, so as we were only staying for one night, that was the most important thing. Unfortunately we were awoken very early by other guests (squeeky floorboards) going about there business above us. Didn't eat or drink here, so couldn't comment on that topic Overall, we would stay here again, but would request a top floor room.

Excellent location

The location and spacious room makes this a win. Good shower too. Very dog friendly Downside, the room was SO hot. We asked for a fan and they were great and delivered it quickly. Despite position the fan on a chair at the foot of the bed we were both really warm. It wasn’t a particularly hot weekend, it peaked at 23…. But we noticed that the floor was always warm and that heated up the room. The hotel is big, lots of car spaces, I can see that in its day it would have been stunning where as now it looks a bit past its best days. But for the price, it balances itself out and I’d stay here again.

Nice clean hotel.Decor is a bit old but apparently all hotels in Harrogate are like that. Could do with a lick of paint. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, can’t fault them at all.

The Cairn Hotel is a large Victorian hotel which may have seen better days but is still clean and tidy. It is in a convenient spot on Ripon Road within easy walking distance of the main attractions. The staff are very polite and efficient. Our room was very spacious and while lacking some amenities like a minibar and air conditioning was perfectly adequate for a few days break. An enjoyable cooked breakfast is available but the continental breakfast is a little on the poor side. We did not have dinner in the hotel as there are many fine restaurants in Harrogate.

Excellent Hotel. Staff friendly. Very good location. Meals very good value. Lovely room, however, could do with more sockets for charging mobiles. Restocked tea, coffee, milk and biscuits every day.

Amazing staff

Booked as a last minute trip away - would definitely recommend and return. Staff extremely welcoming and friendly, hotel was clean and bed comfortable. Hotel within walking distance of the town centre, and also a great base for exploring North Yorkshire.
