Beautiful views over the water. Full kitchen with all you need. Comfortable family room, comfortable beds. The AC was great for a hot and humid time of year. The house has some maintenance and convenience issues, but we were pleased with our stay.
My family stayed at this lovely cottage and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stayed there while there was a hurricane off the coast. So we did encounter some rain, and there were higher tides than normal, so we had to watch the tides to make sure we could get to and from the island when we needed to. But we felt very safe there, and had no issues due to the storm. The area is beautiful and clean, the view out of the kitchen is spectacular, and the house is roomy with plenty of space for a family of four (and the kids got their own rooms). The host, Donna, was very responsive and helpful. The check-in process was easy. We would definitely stay here again when we are in the area!
What a unique relaxing stay enjoying birding, kayaking, stargazing, sunsets off the bridge and watching the kids capture crabs galore. We loved the quirky cottage with its amazing large wrap around window views. Donna and Mike are caring hosts, offering plenty of tips on the area when asked. The island is conveniently located close to Yorktown and not far from Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. The kids also enjoyed both Yorktown and Jamestown beaches during the stay.
My family stayed at this cottage while visiting the historical triangle. My kids absolutely loved fishing off the bridge and catching the tiny crabs around the property. I loved the amazing views and proximity to everything we needed. The homeowners were incredibly helpful and friendly whenever we needed to communicate. Highly recommend!!
The cottage is a treasure and the island is beautiful. Wonderful views of herons and other wildlife always outside the back windows! Our family of six (including four teenage boys) stayed comfortably at the house. It felt like borrowing a friend's well-stocked vacation home. Plenty of kitchen gear and dishes for cooking (which we used several nights). Things to consider: to access the Gloucester Point area, you must cross a draw bridge. It is a cool bridge to cross, but every time you go into Gloucester, you must pay a 2 toll. Also, you can be delayed if a ship is crossing. We had to wait 15-20 minutes one morning on our way to Williamsburg. Also, the property is well-decorated and cozy, but not brand new, and has a few quirks. We had some small ants in the kitchen, but the hosts had some bait traps out. Overall, I would highly recommend this unique stay if you are coming to the area!
The photos are gorgeous but donât do this cottage justice! It was so cute inside and STUNNINGLY beautiful outside. Highly recommend and hope to book again!
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. Three generations enjoyed the front row view of marsh life along the river - egrets, herons, osprey, king birds, fiddler crabs, and even a turtle. The cottage is very tidy, comfortable, and well appointed with all the amenities one could ask for. We are looking forward to coming again.
Very homey. Upstairs shower did not work. Owner never responded about it until we checked out of property. Response was âyeah it can be trickyâ. Overall we enjoyed the quiet peaceful location.
We had a fabulous 3 night stay to explore the Jamestown / Yorktown area - a perfect location. The cottage is in such a beautiful location, surrounded by water, and is the most peaceful place we have ever dtayed in - sitting ourside in the morning with a cup of tea, listening to the birds was just bliss!
We had an excellent stay at this property - it was our second time visiting! The location was perfectâconvenient yet tranquil, nestled in a beautiful setting that truly added to the charm of our getaway. The accommodation was impeccably clean and well-maintained, offering all the comforts needed for our group of eight. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable experience.I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable stay!
The house was roomy enough for all 8 of us, and very well equipped. The grounds were very nice, with the water being right there. Wish we had stayed long enough to enjoy the barbecue area! Owners were very nice. House could use a bit of sprucing up, itâs looking well-used. Major issue for us was that it was too far from Colonial Williamsburg.
Beautiful location. Close to Colonial Williamsburg and all the other historic sites. My issues are with the condition of the kitchen appliances (which are very old), the dirty garbage can area, lack of soap, garbage bags - no shelf in the shower for shampoo etc or a bar to hold onto. Also, one bedroom had a very moldy odor. There also was no propane for the grill.
