Naniloa is always our go to when visiting for drag racing events. We live in Kona and often travel to Hilo as my daughter is a drag racer! Super friendly staff and always a great stay!

We arrived at the hotel at 3:30pm to check in and the room was not ready. Front desk staff said they will text me when the room is ready. I waited until 4:10.( check in time is 4:00pm). No one texted to tell me the room is ready. I went back to the front desk and found out that they had available rooms. The front desk staff was rude especially with his tone of voice. Makes me feel not respected. The facility was so old and not updated. Cleaning carts are transported in a guest elevator which was very uncomfortable. I feel like this is inn/motel level not the Hilton Hotel with over $300 per night. I was very disappointed. I don’t think I will recommend this hotel to anyone visiting in Hilo. I would rather pay less and stay at the inn/motel.

I have to say this double tree is the worst of the double tree brand. 1). There's only valet parking, no self parking. First day when I arrive the hotel, temporally parking outside the lobby, A valet told me I have to have valet parking. I asked what if I want to do self parking? He reply go parking on the street. So rude. 2). The carpet in the room is dirty, It smells very disgusting, especially during night. 3). Hotel fee is very expensive, $49 per day + tax, plus valet parking is $25 + tax. Think again before you book this. 4). Swimming pool is very tiny. probably child over 5 years old would feel it. 5). I did the valet parking because my car is rent. As far as I know the street parking outside the hotel is prohibited in the midnight. But I do see someone parking on the street overnight. Although Hawaii is generally safe, but on the street I saw some strange persons at night.
