Akupe Cottage, Martinborough

Spend a weekend relaxing and unwinding in a serene farm setting. Read a book, play Monopoly, sleep in, watch a DVD, the choice is yours for a quiet getaway in the Wairarapa countryside.

Akupe Cottage is situated on a 3.8ha lifestyle property. With Martinborough only a 12 minute drive away (road is sealed), you can enjoy a relaxing rural splendour and still be only a short drive to Martinborough's restaurants and vineyards.

Akupe Cottage is cosy, private and fully equipped for all year round comfort. It has two bedrooms (one queen bed, one single and one single bunk), and contains a TV, DVD, benchtop oven, hot plates, electric fry pan, fridge, bar freezer, and microwave.

***There is NO CELLPHONE COVERAGE here, but there is free Wi-Fi. And if your cellphone supports Wi-Fi Calling you will be able to receive calls (all networks), and txts (only with Vodafone and 2 Degrees).

Please inquire if you have a dog. We have sheep, and a dog ourselves, and we know that responsible owners will ensure that their animal doesn't roam. And PLEASE bring your dogs own bedding.

Beautiful Peaceful Stay

Communication with the owners were easy & they were so friendly! Key was in the door ready for us to arrive and we could settle in. Beds made with all linen provided along with towels and everything you needed. Cottage is beautiful and cosy! Stunning views across the farm!Many great movies and board games avaliable to use, and also badminton ready to go in the backyard. Full fridge and freezer in kitchen and freeview TV available. At night it was spectacular!! The stars were in the thousands and were so beautiful! We loved stargazing!! Lovely and peaceful with nothing around, so relaxing! Also had WIFI which was brilliant and dog friendly!! We loved this cottage and will definitely be back!

Lovely little cottage

We enjoyed our weekend at Akupe. Everything we needed was there, although it would be nice to have a freezer as we had brought some frozen goods. But for a weekend stay it was no problem going without a freezer! Lovely part of the country & we enjoyed our stay 😊

Close to destination. Easy to find. VERY OLD property that needs attention. Smells musty. Weeds to greet you at the front door. Ran out of hot water in shower (2 people). Stove electricity dangerous. Can't operate stove and microwave at the same time - blows the fuse. Plenty of ants. One small mirror. Honestly can't recommend this property. Over priced.

Peaceful farm stay

Great get away, loved the farm sounds and smells. Our border collie really enjoyed it. Mornings would have been nicer if the eastern hedge was removed. Great comfy bed and brilliant shower.

Hidden Gem

Great place stay. We were traveling to be stall holders at martinbough market. Host is friendly and accommodating. It was only 10min from the main square, nice and quiet with lovely farm setting to enjoy.

Can't dispute this is a great location. Peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The rooms were all good and comfortable, tidy and clean, other than the bathroom/shower/toilet which is quite basic and rustic. While I'm used to country living and the odd bug, it would be good if the ant trail in the bathroom was attended to.

Peaceful retreat

We were delighted to find this quaint little cottage in such a peaceful location. It was comfortable and warm and perfect for our small dog. We enjoyed a game of badminton on the lawn and had a great sleep in the comfortable bed. The rural location suited us perfectly .

Quiet in the countryside

We had a lovely long weekend stay at this wee property. It is small, but comfortable, and our two greyhounds loved running in the nearby paddock every day. The drive into Martinborough is short and scenic. And Shayne was helpful and friendly!

Gorgeous home away from home!

A peaceful, restful spot, Great location

Stayed at Akupe cottage to be near Martinborough for a wine tasting event, but also out of town somewhat. Location was excellent - close enough to Martinborough but also felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. Cottage was very clean and tidy, with all the things you needed and nothing you didn't. Excellent vehicle access and still with internet access in case of emergencies. Hosts were friendly and easy to deal with. Would highly recommend this accommodation.
