The location of this house is primo. Just a few minutes walk to the beach and a block from wonderful bike paths and the bay. The front porch was everyoneâs favorite spot. Lots of places to sit, and even when it was hot a cool breeze found us on the porch. This house doesnât have AC and that fact was listed nowhere in the description. Also, the cleanliness, both inside and out, couldâve been better.
The location of this property was great! It was a pleasant 8 minute stroll to the beach in one direction and an 8 minute stroll the other direction to ice cream!
The size of the house accommodated our family of 14 with plenty of room to spread out. The large screened porch was nice; the ping pong table and hammock were a hit! The updated kitchen was great. The house had a very relaxing atmosphere. It was nice that beach chairs were provided as well as a wagon to cart things to the beach. A negative was no air conditioning. It was in the 90's so it was rather uncomfortable, especially upstairs. There were large fans provided to circulate the hot air! There were a few family members who would probably vote no for this house as they were pretty miserable. The other thing is the house could use a bit of TLC, i.e. exterior and windows cleaned and the removal of large spider webs in the basement. Where there are cob webs... there are spiders!!! Having said all that, the place really worked for us especially the location and size of the house.
We had a wonderful time!
This property has great potential, if it's given some TLC.
We gave it 5 stars for the following reasons: beautiful renovated and well supplied kitchen; big rooms with plenty of seating for family gatherings; excellent proximity to Lake Michigan.
Unfortunately, we had to give it 0 stars for the following reasons: no A/C and no disclosure of that fact in the property listing; interior and exterior doors are in poor condition; dead bugs are in the window frames and light fixtures; ZERO curb appeal.
To split the difference, we would have given it a 2.5 star rating, but went for the 2 star rating because of the A/C non-disclosure issue.
The location was great to be able to walk to the beach and for ice cream but the traffic to the beach made for a long wait to get to access the turn to the house. The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated but the rest of the property needs major TLC.
Due to extenuating circumstances, I could only spend one day at the property, but the rest of my family was able to enjoy a week in this wonderful house. The house exudes a loving warmth that welcomes everyone. The cooks loved the kitchen, which does have dishwasher. The rest of the first floor provides plenty of room for various activities and conversations. The beach is indeed within a 10-minute walk.
