I liked activities offered for the kids. I liked the safe grounds.
The pool was closed the whole time we were there in mid June, which was a huge disappointment for the kids.
There was very little information about what to do at Idyllwild.
They gave us the worst cabin at the bottom of the hill with a steady stream of cars going up and down although there were other places available and I had made the reservations months in advance at $250/night.
We ran out of hot water for showers.
Friendly staff. Clean cabin. The road is safe and has lots of turnout to stop let other car pass. The view is spectacular in every stop. Although everything was closed during off season, our cabin has all the amenities that we need to have a good stay for the weekend. It rained in couple days that we stayed but Im glad we had directv and dvd player to keep us entertained.
We took the grandkids for a weekend get-away. Stayed in a cute little cabin. Everything was perfect, but they really need to mop the floors once in a while. Kids feet were black in the first few minutes. Rest of the cabin was clean and had all the amenities we needed.
Enjoyed 4 days in perfect cabin. We were 5 and although it is a one bedroom cabin we did fine. The cabin is clean. Kitchen had everything we could need for cooking simple meals. We used sofa bed which is of the usual quality (let the kids sleep on it). The view and little hikes around the area are beautiful. Ranger was very helpful!
Once we got settled, dressed kids for the snow outside. Then it came down very hard. This is what we came up there was for the kids to be able to say that they caught snow in their mouths. We plan to do this again. But in a alittle bigger cabin. LOVED IT.
Cabin was very clean but had to make up our own beds and the pillows/blankets were questionable. Looked like garage sale finds. Bunk beds in bedroom were unusable. Double below with a twin on top with no way to get up and into the twin! Husband decided to sleep on sofa bed in "living room." Sofa bed was the airbed type and did not hold the air for more than a half hour. Nothing like reinflating an airbed throughout the night. It really isn't conducive to a good nights sleep. Nice weather-at least 15 degrees cooler than down the mountain.
The beds were unacceptable. Our 6 footer was unable to stretch out. The sofa bed had a spring mattress that jabbed you with metal springs. The cabin and kitchen were realy cute though
Pro - Great piece of land. Good for campers and RV's. Would be nicer in summer.
Cons:
Heater sounds like 747 and the noise hurts your ears.
No Bedding on Beds
Blankets in closet not washed
Wash you own dishes and take out trash.
Cafe - Buns & coffee, closed
Market - Closed
Pool - Closed
Pond - Closed etc. etc. etc.
TV screen - 19"
Warning: They say if you make noise after 10pm, you will be escorted off property. Whisper only.
Poor check-in. After 45 mins and talking bad about Expedia they 'let us' have our cabin.
If I give Idyllwild another try it would be near the quint town.
So glad I book this place. It's secure, safe and just 3 miles down from the downtown. Our cabin was so nice and cute. Inside has a small tv, very comfortable leather sofa bed, kitchen is stock with cooking wear, bathroom is decent size, shower is small, bedroom is small but roomy.
This place is just perfect for a quick getaway for 2 or a small family. Walk around the resort area it's great during the summer cause it has a nice size pool and area for kids to play.
Me and my husband took a couple of days vacation in Idyllwild, this cabin is located in Thousand Trail RV Park which I really like, very quiet and secluded, the check in was easy with the friendly staff. The cabin is clean and organized but the only thing I didn't like this with cabin was: the heater was too loud, it wakes us up each time it comes on, the couch/pull out bed was very uncomfortable that my back hurt so as the bed, there are no shelves, counter top or hooks in the bathroom to hold any of the toiletries and the shower pressure was too slow and there's hardly counter top space in the kitchen. The cabin is about less than 7 mins drive to the village, there a lots of restaurants if you prefer to dine out. We tried Cafe Aroma, it was nice.
