Public entry to the lake near by, close to the Cabot Trail as well as many other hiking trails. Open all year round with access to snowmobiling trails to jet you to the Highlands National Park. Make this a home base for all your island adventures. Stay longer & save.

Hilltop Haven resides 9km west of the Village of Baddeck above the Bras d'Or Lake on a peaceful 3 acre parcel of land. Tranquil, private and boasting amazing sunrises & sunsets, its nestled in nature and wildlife. The house is spacious (2900sf) with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, full kitchen, living room with wood burning stove, dining area and a screened in sunroom.

Finished basement with additional seating and entertainment area, great for the kids. Queen sized pull out to accommodate a group of 8. There is a large raised deck for lounging, cooking & dining with your family & friends as well as a firepit area in the front yard.

Public access to the water and boat launch area is a short distance away. Great for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. The Village of Baddeck offers artisan shops, exquisite local fare, fresh seafood and entertainment.

Review and share House Guide with your guests. Quiet hours 11pm-7am. Check Before You Burn. No shoes in house. Do not take bath towels to the lake.
Lock door, turn lights off when you are out. Bring cushions inside at night, collapse umbrella. Use garbage recycling and compose bins as instructed.
Leave house as you found it. If left messy you may be charged a cleaning fee of up to $250, damages will be reimbursed at my cost.

Mentioned some maintenance observations and was told these were in the listing. But not when I booked. One shower not working, no laundry. There were 2 other showers though. Otherwise the place offered many sitting areas inside and out. There were helpful tips about fire regulations.View of lake may be an overstatement. Yes, could see a bit. No direct access.Highlight was seeing a fox trot across the lawn at twilight.

We enjoyed or stay and the view was terrific. Deck furniture was comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. Owner says she is eliminating washcloths but when we asked she provided a couple more. What would have made our stay better would have been a washer/dryer available and access to that beautiful upstairs bathroom off the master bedroom which made that nice bedroom unusable with only toilet and sink available.

We loved our stay here and Joanne, the property manager was great. Responsive to all of our needs and a good communicator. It was a great home base for our week at Cape Breton. The house was well equipped and had lots of places for our group of 3 couples to relax. It was a beautiful private setting with great views.

not thrilled

Our issues with our rental isn’t so much about the property itself but with how it was maintained and the way we were treated by the home’s caretaker. This property has a beautiful view from the front porch. The house was clean, and the kitchen well equipped.The home is advertised as set up for accommodating eight visitors. Fortunately we were travelling alone.When we got to the house, the top floor was above 30C, the basement was muggy, but the controls for the air handling system were under lock. The main floor was fine but this left only 1/3 of the house comfortable.We were told 24 hours before our arrival that the master bathroom shower did not work, and the heat pump was not working and scheduled for maintenance on June 20. The host volunteered to repair the shower in the master bedroom the night of our arrival or the following day. Before we arrived we told her it was not necessary since she also told us there were 2 other working showers. This turned out to be false. The main level shower behaved more like a hose on an outside water spicket with no nozzle controlling the pressure. The only functional shower was on the lowest level and was only 30”x30”. The host did not go to the property for 4 days after we departed. She reported that we left the umbrella up and it caused it to fail in high winds.As we could not prove one way or the other we immediately paid for its replacement We try to look for the positive, and in this case it was clearly an error.

We absolutely loved our stay here. We spent a lot of time on the deck looking at the beautiful water view. Very comfortable furniture outside and inside. Tons of space for everyone to spread out if needed, well-stocked kitchen, great coffee maker. Terrific place to use as a base for exploring Cape Breton. Bonus - Jo, the property manager was terrific!

Exploring the Cabot Trail

The place was perfect, used as our spoke and wheel to all the places we wanted to visit. Very clean and comfortable. Joanne is a great hostess. Would highly recommend this place.
