The bathroom doors do not stay closed. Nor did they lock. This place was just not nice enough for the money charged. We told the most this would be a holiday gathering for 10 people. There were only 7 forks. How does that work? If we had not indicated 10 people that could be overlooked, but we had to wash forks for every meal that served a dessert. Negligent on their part. Upon our arrival there was fast food packages on the front porch. The home was spacious and met our needs. The host responded well to the furnace issue we had. And was gracious to give us extra time to check out. That was really helpful with 10 people and all the food we had to pack up. We could use a few more bath clothes. There were no kitchen hand towels for drying dishes. Also, I indicated a holiday meal was being prepared. There was not a mixer for mashed potatoes, whipping cream or desserts. Perhaps purchase a minimal one for the home. We do prefer a flat and fitted sheet for the beds. It feels creepy to just sleep with a comforter. Were they washed between each usage? Lastly, The back door, which is the entry, could use a good cleaning. It's not very welcoming to enter a dusty, dirty door. Clean the door knobs also. That was a lot of money for very little service.
Beautiful home. Great charm. Photos need updating. Alley was spooky-lots of overgrown brush. Pictures showed beautiful landscaping at the entry gate but it is grossly overgrown. The house interior was relatively clean and accurately depicted. We were shocked to find brown water coming from the bathroom sink. After running water a while it cleared up. We felt this is something that should be disclosed so that you can be prepared for it and not surprised by it. We contacted the owner and got an immediate response. We were told to do just what we did, let the water run. The beds seemed to have been made without the sheets being changed. The owner offered to send a housekeeper to take care of it right away. We declined the offer because we werenât comfortable with someone coming into the house with our belongings there while we were out. Some cockroaches decided to make their way across the floor. It seemed to be one thing after another. Planned on hanging out on the patio. Pictures of the deck donât reflect its current condition. Thereâs a lot of overgrown foliage and a few broken boards on the deck. It didnât look safe or inviting. We planned to stay 2 nights, because of the string of unfortunate events, the owner agreed to refund our second night minus fees. We were disappointed things didnât work out. We were hoping this rental could meet our needs for a graduation weâre attending in December. Despite the unfortunate events, the owners were accessible and offered solutions.
We stayed at Magnolia Manor while attending a funeral in Jackson. Soooooo beautiful --- it brought back so many memories growing up in similar homes. My sister can't wait to visit so we can cook and fill the house with wonderful smells and aromas and sit around and reminisce of days gone by. A wonderful place for family and memoroes.
We enjoyed our stay. The home had plenty of room but it needed a downstairs bathroom. The showers were not working properly and the hot water didn't seem to last long. The location was good and the host was very good with communication.
We had a graduation, and many people coming and staying in various places in Jackson. With the rain and event delays, and relocations, this house was a great center to meet up. The house has a bedroom on the bottom floor which was great for my 85 year old mom. We did not cook during our stay but the kitchen seemed stocked well. The large dining area, was perfect for sitting for the family, perfect for gathering to decide how to pivot our plans. It is close to the manship area, which has beer, and pizza which was great. It is also in the Belhaven area which has beautiful historical homes, very fun to walk around. Also, very close to Millsaps and Belhaven Universities.
Even though it implied a deep historical connection. The place was old and lacked the upkeep to have a clean healthy experience. It was very dusty and drafty The grounds were unkept grass needed mowing hedges and trees needed trimming. The entrance is down an unpaved alley with overgrown landscape. The picture is not an accurate description of the actual property. The host was unreachable when needed to provide information on issues that arose.
This older historic home in a historic district was perfect for us. The host was very responsive. We really appreciated the AC during a few very hot days:)
There is nothing about this property that was described online that was accurate. There was a door with a note/lock between us and another group of family!!!! A bar of used soap was in the upstairs shower! The trash was completely full upon arrival and had bugs all around it. Not worth the daily rate. The DECK looked beautiful on the photos so we planned to eat outsideâthe weeds were grown up so much and the deck did not look safe.
Magnolia Manor is a beautiful home. We rented it for my sonâs wedding. Plenty of room for our family plus his groomsmen stayed one night and got dressed for the wedding at the house. It was close to the church and to the reception venue. Uber was easy transportation. Definitely would stay here again.
The property itself was fine. It fit my family for my wedding weekend. The floors hadnât been thoroughly cleaned in some rooms, but it wasnât unbearable. The main issue was communication with the hosts. They tried to charge me extra when I told them I may have 12 guests stay (which is the max occupancy), but I wasnât sure. Ended up only being 6. There were 2 guests staying in the guest suite, who you share a carport and some walls with, who we believe were smoking (not cigarettes) inside despite it being a no smoking rental and also had specific instructions that illegal drugs were not allowed. Our entire upstairs reeked every night as soon as the heat came on and did not dissipate easily. We were told vents were not shared, but we smelled it. It was so bad constantly, I had to keep all of my hanging clothes in my car and my suitcase closed downstairs. When I told the host after we left (chose not to before since we shared a carport), they told us the other guests claimed they were burning incense, but that was not the smell we had. There also werenât any lightbulbs in the foyer or working lights on the porch, but some cars had to be on the street since the guests in the guest suite had the 2nd spot in the carport. People parking on the street had to find their way in in the dark. Not very safe.. Overall, we wonât be returning or staying anywhere these hosts are involved with.
Magnolia Manor and itâs adjoining apt was the perfect Oasis for our team of 10. The location was great. Bedrooms and Bathrooms were clean and supplies were furnished for our needs, even mints next to our beds.
Communication was very timely and helpful throughout the full 2 weeks.
Will definitely Book again!
Thanks Jo and Ashley
We flew in for a family weekend and the house did not disappoint.
The layout of the house was great for our group.
From the linens to the kitchen, everything was well stocked and then some.
The communication with Ashley was great.
We had a wonderful stay.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Magnolia Manor!! There was plenty of room for us to congregate as well as have our own areas. It is convenient to highways and restaurants. I would recommend if you are heading to the Jackson area!!
We were in Jackson for a graduation with family. This was the perfect place with lots of room and great location to everything. The back deck was a great place to relax and grill. The bedrooms were big and comfortable. We will definitely stay again when visiting Jackson. Brad and Jo were very responsive and helpful with our stay. I had to change dates and that was no problem at all.
