Eco Cabin in remote Caribbean Woodlands
The cottage is Caribbean style, its walls covered in wooden shingles, with shuttered windows and a large open deck. It is tucked away in a remote and wooded valley. It is a short walk from the car parking area to the cabin - a narrow path covered in bamboo leaves. There is a patio area with an outside table and a BBQ. The kitchen is open sided, birds flying through! There is everything you would need from espresso coffee maker to knife sharpener! The pots and pans hang on the wall. The cabin is totally eco and is powered with solar energy, the sockets are 110v USA with a 1000 watt inverter. All the water is rain water. The shower is open. The bedroom is large with windows on 3 sides. The door on the 4th side leads Narnia like through the wardrobe to the kitchen and shower. From the netted four poster bed, you look through balcony and garden to the hills covered in lemon grass. There are comfy chairs and a hammock on the balcony, perfect for a lounge with a book (there is a selection) and a glass of two! The cottage has a garden and teak lounge chairs for you to watch the stars or sunbathe... Although we are in this quiet and hidden valley it is only a rather lovely short drive down Fig Tree Drive to the nearest beach at Carlisle Bay. Beyond Carlisle Bay are some of the best beaches in Antigua laid out before you along the West Coast, the side with the Caribbean sea.
Louise was really kind. She was extremely helpful and even purchased chairs that we could take to the beach. Accommodation was great and we had everything we needed. She provided a hummingbird feeder so we were able to entice hummingbirds onto the porch for a feed. Absolutely loved seeing their beautiful colours. Overall really great.
You are immersed in the forest and wildlife a Louiseâs Tranquil Farm and it has so much charm. We loved our stay.We hindsight we should have hired a jeep to get to faraday, as the roads were challenging in our little Toyota.Louise was a perfect host, making us some homemade goodies and a bottle of wine to enhance our stay.
The location requires a car, 4x4 ideally, but once you find it itâs a wonderful peaceful place with all the amenities you need. There was even a bottle of wine and some food to see us through the first night. The cabin is ideal for people that want out of the hustle and bustle and want to relax in nature, with the dogs, chickens and birds making a regular appearance. Highly recommend a visit!
