The Cottage was a wonderful respite for our trip. As others have said, there were some gnats that were present in the bathrooms and on the outside of the house (that swarmed at night), but we found that if we left the light on inside, the gnats swarmed to the window and left us alone on the deck. And, it is after all a tropical environment, so while we saw the occasional cockroach outside, there were none inside!When we arrived, our code didn't work, but the person on the other side of the emergency line helped us out since there was a photo shoot before we arrived.We loved the bathroom, and the kitchen was well equipped. We could have used some ziploc baggies to store food or other things that we couldn't finish eating, but we found most of what we needed. The A/C units (2) were perfect for the size of the house, and it was great to have a washer and dryer there. Bring your own dryer sheets if you want; while there were laundry pods (thank you!!) there were no dryer sheets. The views were one-in-a-million. The waves crashing on the lava rocks below were loud, but lovely. The yellow tangs greeted us each day out off the deck as they were hanging out in the reef beyond the deck. There were lots of surfers each morning, so if you like to sleep with the window curtains open, beware. I only wish that this had another bedroom with bunk beds or twin beds so that our kids could enjoy this house! We will definitely come back to this in the future - we had a great time!

Stunning oceanfront rental right on the rocks with waves crashing 24/7. Spotless property with comfortable bed, huge shower, plenty of towels, and full-size toiletries plus starter soap supplies. Excellent A/C, reliable WiFi, two parking spots, and fully stocked kitchen. Quiet area, walking distance to beach for swimming/snorkeling/surfing with gear rental nearby. Close drive to restaurants.Cons: No indoor dining option, limited food storage, outdoor cushions get wet, string lights don’t work, bed creaks when moving, no living room TV, bedroom lacks curtains for privacy into lihing room if have a group of 4.Bottom Line: Despite minor issues, this oceanfront location delivers an incredible experience. The sound of crashing waves and peaceful setting make it perfect for a relaxing retreat. Highly recommended for ocean lovers seeking comfort and tranquility.

Amazing place

As we walk into this cute little house it was just amazing from the front gate to the door you’re welcome by flowers and plants then you open the door and there it is a view of the Pacific Ocean the sound of the waves braking will put you right to sleep the in side is just as cool as the location I have traveled all over the world and even have a home in the Bahamas on the water but this place is very special if you come to Kona and do not stay here you will miss out on the best part of your trip

Great location. View was amazing. But this place has a very bad roach problem. And they are huge and everywhere. This place cost a lot of money to deal with all the roaches that were there.

Adorable little cabin/cottage on the water! There was a large swell so we couldn't take advantage of the nearby by beach, but we got to appreciate the ocean from the lanai and loved it.

Perfect place to kick back and feel at home

The checkin process was exchanging COVID vaccination information and getting the key code. Once I we unpacked and got groceries we felt like we were at home. The place was clean, safe and private. The TV broke and was replaced in less than 24 hours ! Great trip ! First in 1.5 years and would do it again in a heartbeat. The waves lulled us to sleep every night.

The view can’t be beat

The view from The Cottage is spectacular. Ocean right out the back door. The cleanliness, or lack thereof, is another story. Floors were extremely dirty and lots of cockroaches, alive and dead, inside the home. Great location, homes needs a thorough cleaning.

Ocean front gem!!

We loved staying at this cottage. The lanai hangs right over the ocean - listening the the crashing waves and seeing the beautiful sunsets every night. Our favorite part was watching the surfers out in the bay and walking right the best snorkel beach on the island.

Great for couples

This property was great but not without it's issues that can be overlooked by the absolutely FANTASTIC views, sounds and vibes. When we arrived, the house was HOT, opened all the windows and doors and within 10 minutes the house was at a reasonable temp. Great location. 10/10 would stay again.

Perfect Waterfront Location

We had a wonderful week staying at The Cottage. It literally couldn’t be closer to the ocean! It is well equipped, comfortable and clean. A very short walk to the sandy beach and close proximity to everything else Kona has to offer. We plan on returning! Mahalo!

Perfect vacation!!!

Everything you could want and more! Stunning view! The house was stocked with everything we could possibly need. We had breakfast outside watching the surfers every morning. We barbecued and watched the sunset at night. It was a perfect central location for day trip explorations. We would highly recommend to anyone!

Perfect Spot Right on the Ocean

We had a wonderful time here. The cottage is as described and much more. The lanai and yard are beautiful places to relax, watch the ocean, and see the sun set. We had all the furnishings we needed. The sound of waves crashing all night was peaceful and relaxing. The fire pit is a wonderful feature. It's a short walk to snorkel and swim at the beach. The grocery store and other services are just a few minutes down the road. There genuinely was not a single problem we encountered here for 10 days. We look forward to coming back!

House on the edge of the ocean

The house has a great layout with a sea breeze terrace. Kitchen was well stocked with a lot of glass Tupperware. Eco friendly and no plastic. Saucepan were lightly used. Color knives (not a huge fan due to the paint. The bedroom with the view of the ocean and surfers was a treat. The bathroom recently remodeled was well made and the double walking shower was relaxing. Plenty of soft towel. Snorkel and surf just at your door step. On the negative side, we have been bother by the construction next door. They start too early to take your breakfast in peace. So ask before booking if they are done. I would say it is soon. They were doing the concrete et the wall. Food and natural food store are near by. Love this house.

Would consider this property again

This was an easy place for the two of us to relax in, and we could relax there. Management was efficient and responsive before we arrived and did not need to be contacted once we did arrive. Proximity to a beach park is a plus, and the views were as promised. Alii Drive is busy, but the property layout mitigates road noise somewhat. Some construction happened next door, but that looks to be nearing completion; similar plans seem in process at the other next-door property. We would consider renting here again, and appreciate how we were treated by management.

A nice house on the water

This place is exactly as pictured, right on the water and lovely inside. There were just two issues my husband and I had with the property. The first is that there wasn't air conditioning. This likely wouldn't have been a big deal if we hadn't been staying during a time when the winds decided to all but disappear as there are multiple fans in the home, but it made for some very warm nights we aren't used to being from the NW. The second issue was that the mattress on the bed is incredibly firm and so after a few nights it was not so comfortable on our backs. But the location is unbeatable, with a short drive to downtown and a very short walk to the nearby beach where you can snorkel or surf easily.
