I have rented 6 proprietary at Waiki ula ula over the last 10 years. The location is excellent. This particular property was not as well maintained as the other 5. It is tired and needs some work to bring it up to the standard one would expect from this area of Mauna Kea. The appliances are dated, the outdoor lights on the dining table don't work (3 of 4 were out), etc. Nonetheless this was a pleasant visit
This was our 10th year at Mauna Kea but was also the worst experience we had in more than two decades.
We were treated to all-day construction experience on a second day of vacation. The construction crew walked over us like we did not exist - we were treated as a nuisance.
To add an insult to the injury, the following day, landscaping crew came at 7:00am and treated us to an early motor symphony - all the while we attempted to have breakfast on the patio. Leaves flew to a coffee and food - while the crew pretended that we were not there.
An attempt to reach residential manager was futile - he would not even dignify us with returned call, much less with anything else.
The property was rented from South Kohala management (not from the actual owner as in most Vrbo transaction). Unfortunately, we received no service and the owner actually hung up on us when we reached for help.
This particular property is rather rundown and has not been updated in a while. Unfortunately, the management company that rented it has made this experience the worst we had since we started using VRBO services.
No one should have to live through our experience while on vacation - we learned an expensive lesson and will avoid both the property and the South Kohala that rented it to us.
Beautiful property well stocked with almost anything you need. We needed a fly swatter. Opened a. Drawer and there it was. Even down to laundry soap, dryer sheets, boogie boards and sand toys! Will be back in the winter and every year if youâll have us. Looking forward to our next trip. Wish we didnât have to leave.
