Uncomfortable, Noisy, and doubly-charged

We booked a room as a layover on our way through Missouri. We arrived late at night, and left before 6am. Though we'd fully paid on Hotels.com, when we made the reservation, the clerk ran a credit card for $100. I though it was a hold, for incidentals, but we were charged the full $100. The room wasn't quiet or comfortable, which is why we left with 6 hours of sleep. It had a very strong flowery smell, the temp control didn't seem to work (it was cold and humid), and there was an inch gap under the hallway door - through which we heard hallway conversations and saw the bright hall light all night.

The room was old and smelled of mold. We had to spray Lysol in the vents and around the room. I wasn’t able to get to breakfast until 9:30 and half the hot food was all gone

I'll start by saying that the hotel is currently being renovated. However, it should not be open to booking in its current condition. The room smelled like the was sewage issue nearby. The toilet ran. The bath tub was old and peeling. The security look was missing on my door.7

The floor in our room had not been cleaned for sometime. We had a cricket in our room that keep us awake. I must say the bed sheets seemed clean and nice. That is why we stayed. The hallway outside our room (the carpet)hadnt been vacumed since forever. It was scary coming into the hotel. The rif raf outside the hotel was questionable to say the least. Smoking up a storm and sitting in the rocks close to the door. Breakfast was very limited.
