Sunny house with a great sea view and a swimming pool
Kea is one one the closest islands to Athens. The island has retained its natural charm and is one of the hidden gems of the Cycladic islands. As the island has few hotels, private villas are offered for rent. Most of these houses are made of local stone and are unique in their architecture. The island has 45 beaches, most of them accessible be boat. For those that are looking for a relaxing holiday with sun, sea and good food, Kea (also known as Tzia) is the ideal place to take your family and have a great vacation.
This particular house is 10 minutes from the harbor of Kea, called Korissia and 3 minutes from the main town/village (chora) called Ioulitha. Near Ioulitha is a large super market and in Ioulitha itself there are restaurants, cafes and boutiques. Fifteen to 20 minutes from the house are the sandy beaches of Spathi, Xyla, Pisses, Koundouraki, Otzia, Gialiskari and many more. The picturesque Marina of Vourkari, well known to the yachting crown is 15 minutes from the house and offers some very good fish restaurants, cafes, bars and a couple of boutiques.
The house is 120 sq meters on a 1,000s meters plot of land near Chora (Ioulitha). Outside there is a swimming pool and terrace from where one has a breathtaking view of the surrounding area and the sea. Near the swimming pool there is a shaded dining/seating area with an electric outdoor grill. The ground floor of the house has a living room with fireplace and large windows that again give one a fantastic sea view. Near dining area there is a fully equipped kitchen and a w.c. Near the kitchen there are stairs leading to an open-plan area that overlooks the living room, which can be used as the third bedroom. The floor below the ground level has two bedrooms and two bathrooms., both bedrooms lead on to covered balconies that over great views of the surrounding area and the sea.
The villa will be de-sanitized, including the air-conditioning units before guests arrive and after their departure.
My husband and our 3 children had a fantastic holiday in the villa on Kea Island. The villa was very clean and the kitchen provided everything needed.
We could eat inside and outside. The swimming pool was warm and clean.
Maria (the manager) and Anita (the owner) were very helpful and responsive.
We recommend it without hesitation !
A lovely warm welcome from Maria and her son who met us at the ferry port and showed us up to the property. Overall the property was spotless, the communal space was a little small for six people but the outside space made up for that. On reflection, the house was a little remote to bring teenagers too but if you're looking for peace and privacy it's ideal. The views from the property are excellent with beautiful sunsets every day. Maria was extremely helpful and was always on the end of the phone to answers any queries. You'll definitely need a car and be prepared for some off-road hair-razing drives to get to some of the beaches. Ioulida, Kea's centre is lovely with some lovely shops and restaurants. Overall, a lovely week away, thanks, Maria.
The property was spotless and very cool indoors despite 35 degrees heat outside. The view was amazing and so was the entire island.
Maria was great and met us off the ferry telling us and showing us all the local amenities on the way as we followed her in our car.
Supermarkets and restaurants were fabulous and everyone was so friendly.
The swimming pool was unbelievable , very well looked after .
A perfect Villa, will definitely be back.
Das Haus war fantastisch. Die Aussicht und der private Pool sind einfach super.
Ebenso ist alles vorhanden was man braucht.
My wife, daughter and I stayed here mid to late August and we had a great time. We were met by the welcoming, efficient and knowledgable Maria Lemos who drove us to the house, kindly helping with a stop en-route at the supermarket for supplies as we had arrived late evening.
The house is set above and behind Ioulida with an unrivalled view back across the Aegean to the mainland peninsula. The sun sets here so prepare so spend a lot of time photographing the sunsets - you can literally watch it sink behind the distant mountains. I'd advise a car but there's a fine restaurant, supermarket and bakery a short(ish) walk away all near Kea Villas. Also, there's a reliable if slightly infrequent bus service in summer. (www.kea.gr/index.php/el/tourismos/dromologia-leoforion). Taxi's are also affordable to the main towns but if you want to go to Karthea for example you'll pay 25 Euros each way.
The house itself is cosy and comfortable with a small but impressively equipped kitchen (Dishwasher, two coffee machines, juicer, fridge freezer etc - but no microwave). Living area is fine with table and chairs and sofa but we ate outside every day where you have the choice of two terraces and tables, one more protected from the sometimes gusty wind. There's a very attractive mezzanine level inside where our daughter loved to play and read. Downstairs there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms (on en-suite) with a utility room and washing machine. The pool is brilliant with a great view again and room for sun loungers.
Nowhere is prohibitively far on Kea so you can get to wherever you need to go quickly and enjoy the wonderful sights, tastes and people of this beautiful island. Heartily recommended.
